Which contracts are sliding this year? I'm counting 51 contracts now, 50 if Gaunce isn't counted.

I like this in conjunction with the Barker signing. Vandermeer isn't good but at least he's not a complete disaster.

Hopefully he can push Alberts for a spot.

Is he RH or LH?

Well people in the Barker thread lamenting about Vandermeer get their wish. Isn't this guy like criminally slow? Adds toughness at least. He has to be better than Alberts.

bad signing, he doesn't have the amazing upside of refinding his game and being a top 4 PMD like barker

are we at 50 contracts now?

It seems like Gillis/Vigneault would prefer to rely on cheap veterans in a condensed season than trying to bring young players along. I can't say I disagree with that plan.

Shouldn't Corrado and Jensen count as sliders too? So we're at 48?

Edit - That's assuming Corrado doesn't make the team, of course...

The conventional wisdom is that a shortened season is going to increase the chance of injury. And our D corps has been notorious in that regards for years. Keep stocking up, Mike.

At least he won't have to go through waivers; might end up with the Wolves.

Every time Jim Vandermeer signs a contract, an angel punches Milan Lucic in the face.

I guess all the Cam "Sky is falling" Barker detractors can climb off the ledge now.

Or perhaps just move to the ledge on a lower floor.

Yes and Corrado won't make it, it's just to reward the kid for a good year thus far and give him a glance at where he needs to be next year to push to make it. McEneny is also a slider. So we have 4 sliders

These low-skill physical d-men ought to be able to play either side really easily, it's not like they have to make pinpoint outlet passes.

Most likely for the farm team. Could be an emergency call up due to injury. I don't mind this.

Oh apparently Gaunce, Corrado, Jensen and McEneny all slide...

So Nucks are still only at 47 contracts.

Barker is also slow. So is Alberts. Basically a bunch of pylons once we get past our Top 6.

Vandermeer can clear the crease. This is a good thing.
