An Oiler will have points on all goals. MacKinnon counts as an Oiler.

Come on, it says that the lineup is from Russia's last game. Makarov may or may not be included in the lineup.

A lot of this games depends on what Spott does with the defensemen. If he keeps playing Murphy like he has been Russia is gonna go to town on him. I think Russia is gonna take this one either way.

if canada gets dominated again. 6-3 russia, if canada comes out and plays the forecheck hard, hitting, first person to loose puck 4-3 canada.

I have a feeling this will be a close low scoring game. Also have a feeling its going to be an extremely rough game despite the fear of the unknown (officiating).

I don't like our chances. Subban is the weak link.

Granted he had a solid game against the US, hopefully that wasn't a fluke. But Germany has only scored 4 goals the entire tourney, and 3 were against Subban. Slovakia as well got 3 on him, as opposed to 2 each against Vasilevski and Cupper.

I hope he shuts down the Russians, but i don't see it. Canada's strategy has been "keep scoring to make up for our sloppy defensive play", but that won't work as well against Russia

Oilers get 10 combined points from Yakupov, RNH and Zharkov.

Whoever loses and comes second probably has an easier road to the good medal game.

They would play the 3rd seed in the other group, and if they beat them then the first seed from the other group and only have to face Russia, Canada or the US in the finals.

That being said, no one is going to throw this game, way to much pride on the line.

Is anybody else becoming more and more disappointed in Yakupov lately? I've been expecting him to be as exciting as analysts have previously reported, yet much like what others have said, every time he is on the international stage he has been fairly ineffective and uninteresting to watch. He can't even seem to handle the puck at top speed, which many scouts had identified as one of his top attributes. It seems he wants to tap the puck forward every time he has it, yet he ends up losing it. He had some admirable moments during the game against Germany, but has otherwise looked very plain not only in the current WJC, but also in the Subway Series, and the Canada-Russia Challenge this past summer.

Would I be wrong to expect another average performance tonight?

Yeah I have a feeling the U.S will beat Russia or Canada if they were to meet in the Semi Final.

Quite often in Hockey tournaments you see the opposite result when teams meet a second time in a tournament.

I wasn't confident with Canada vs USA, I'm less confident about Canada vs Russia. If Murphy sees the same amount of minutes and situations as he has in the previous games, I fear that Russia is going to really enjoy their time on the ice when he's on.

4-3 Canada in OT, Russia ties it late with the goalie pulled, but Nugent-Hopkins puts one low blocker for the game winner in OT.

In the 2011 IIHF World Championships in the Qualifying round Sweden Lost to Canada 3-2 this way they got to play Germany instead of Russia in the Playoff Round. Canada Played Russia in the Playoff Round and got eliminated (2-1) from medal contention....Anyways..Finland won gold and Sweden won silver...

To this day i believe Sweden deliberately lost to Canada that day to NOT face Russia...

The same i believe will happen here...I believe Russia will deliberately loose this game for an easier path to gold...

people will just never have faith in Canadian goaltending after the last 3 years, I think Malcolm stole the show against the USA and I think he will be solid again versus the Russians.

The most obvious deliberate loss was in the 2006 Olympics when Sweden lost to Slovakia on purpose to play Switzerland in the QF who finished second in Pool A (Beat Canada 2-0). If Sweden won against Slovakia they would have faced Canada in the QF.

Sweden ended up winning gold. Slovakia went out in the QF.

Id throw the game for guaranteed medal also...but i do believe Russia will - they will look at this rationally.

unfortunately this is the first game I will not be staying up for, and there is no way I'm getting up at 5:30 to watch an hour of it then have to turn it off to go back home.
