Manning is the best quarterback in league. He doesn't miss the playoffs.

And I really think your underrating the impact Manning has had on Denver, theres absolutely no way we'd be the best team in the league without him. AP has been great but no way.

I have nothing against Manning. But this is an MVP thread and it's Pedersons. If not for AP then yes Manning.

Pederson?
I always thought it was Peterson unless I'm missing an inside joke.

Now that the Vikes made the playoffs there is absolutely no argument for anyone but Peterson.

Without Manning, the Broncos are easily a 8 win team. With Manning, the Broncos are a 13 win team.

Without Peterson, the Vikings are a 2 win team. With Peterson, the Vikings are a 10 win team.

IMO, Peterson is more valuable to his team this season.

Going with AP here because of the division they are in.

Packers finished with 11 wins. Bears with 10 wins. Vikings with 10 wins.
Broncos finished with 13 wins. Chargers with 7 wins, Raiders with 4 and the Chiefs with 2.

Put Tebow back with the Broncos and I think they can still win the AFC West. They wouldn't have the best record in the AFC, but they should be right there with the Chargers for the division.

Say the Chargers split the season series with the Broncos, puts SD at 8-8. Still think Denver sweeps Oakland and KC and 1 win against SD gives them 5 wins. They also played the AFC North in Pitt/Cle/Bal/Cin and the NFC South in ATL/Car/NO/TB and a couple of other teams in NE and Hou. Even with Manning, Denver lost to both of them.

From that group, I'd think Cle/TB/Car would be wins for Denver. Comes down to taking a victory from one of the Cin/Pit/BAl/ATL/NO to get to 9-7 and the division title.

Take AP out of the lineup for the Vikings and Ponder gets destroyed. The D gets gassed because they don't get a rest between series. No way they make the playoffs.

Plus, AP came within 9 yards of a long standing NFL record. Gotta go with him.

Manning, if he was healthy was still going to be a top level QB. Just a matter of whether his neck was going to hold out.

First of all, I think AD and Manning should split both awards (MVP and CBOY).

AD almost single-handedly took a team to the playoffs. Peyton made the Broncos a Super Bowl contender. But what is more important?

Making the playoffs is obviously the first step, but I don't think the Vikings are anything close to a Super Bowl contender even with Peterson. Take away Manning and the Broncos could probably still win the division (due to how awful the rest of their division is) but there is no way they would be the #1 team in the AFC and one of the favourites to win the Super Bowl. Manning has changed the Broncos into a Super Bowl contender, which is the ultimate goal of any player.

With AD the Vikings were still a bad team last year. He has obviously elevated his game and has thus elevated his team into the playoffs. But I'd say the difference between last years Peterson and this years, is nowhere near the difference between last years Broncos QB (Tebow) and this years QB (Manning), and the Broncos record reflects that.

Here's the thing; AD let Ponder mess up and develop as a QB. There were some horrendous games sprinkled in that AD simply took over and let Ponder take his lumps.

After last night it's definitely Peterson.

That 23? yard run sent them to the playoffs. And he carried his team the entire game, too. Incredible.

Was hoping he would take that one to the house and break the record. Next year it's his.

Peyton makes the Broncos a super bowl contender and AFC team to beat.
AP makes the Vikings barely a playoff team and lucky to win a game in the postseason.

This is very relevant when voting for the regular season MVP. Hopefully all the voters look at this post before making their final decisions.

In the second half of the season, I believe Peterson had more rushing yards than Ponder had passing yards.

Manning is deserving (and almost assuredly will win) but AP put his team on his back and dragged them into the playoffs. He'd get my vote, if I had one.

Peterson should no doubt be the MVP.

Manning's season was good but nothing spectacular. His numbers are on par with other elite QB's and he plays on a very good team. Peterson on the other hand was heads and shoulders above any RB this year and carried his team the whole season. He plays with a terrible QB and without Harvin, their offense is bad.

I haven't heard a good argument for Manning over Peterson.

And IMO, I don't think previous injuries should even be considered when talking about MVP. They were healthy when the season started so they are moot.

I will be mildly shocked if he gets it.

You will never see a Peyton Manning team get dominated like AD's just did

just saying, there is definitely an argument for Manning to win..

4.5 yards/car is not getting dominated.

Take your homer glasses off.

Have you seen some of Manning's playoff performances? Early in his career, the Patriots straight up dominated his teams.

New to football?

Guess you never say Manning play the Patriots. Or his 1st play-off game against the Jets.
