What the Jets might look like with a 60 million dollar salary cap

With the most unnecessary lockout in professional sports history about to come to a head, letís take this opportunity to examine, on a hypothetical basis, the ramifications of the salary cap dropping to the $60.0 million range in year two of the prospective collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Much has been made about some teams, like the Montreal Canadiens, being in tough if the salary cap does drop by just over $10 million from this shortened season (if it happens) to the next season thereafter.

The purpose of this article is to focus strictly on the Winnipeg Jets and the teamís salary cap situation heading into the 2013-14 season.

The owners have maintained that while they are willing to spend to the cap--the wont till their one ice product is deserving of it

and right now they are at 57mill for this fake season

I don't see much changing.

TNSE always had their own internal budget. That will remain. The new cap will impact the big spenders.

One thing is the new CBA will make any 2013-2014 contracts worth less than we think. There will be a glut of talent out there and only so many dollars to go around. Many teams won't use buyouts.

Capgeek.com claims it was $51,760,331, but I thought it was closer to $54M.
