Ponder does not suck....please. Dude is one of the promising tier 2 QBs in the NFL.

The Vikings were a playoff team last season minus Harvin. He's easily a serviceable NFL starter.

Er, yes he does. Have already forgotten the entire schtick with AP this year? At the end, it wasn't about whether he could get the record or not it was all about whether Ponder would even be able to do enough to allow AP to do it.

Ponder has been terrible.

Who does he have to throw to? Harvin, Rudolph? And harvin was injured the second half of the season. Ponder isn't the best QB or even one of the best young guys but he is a decent QB and with the right personnel he could show off his abilities.

Ponder is decent, has potential. When compared to the QBs drafted with him he has work to do.

2011 QBs in order drafted:

Cam Newton
Jake Locker
Blaine Gabbert
Christian Ponder
Andy Dalton
Colin Kapernick
Ryan Mallet
Ricky Stanzi
TJ Yates
Nathan Enderle
Tyrod Taylor
Greg McElroy

I remember a ton of skins fans on extremeskins.com wanting Blaine Gabbert, and ripping the team for drafting Ryan Kerrigan.

I was one that was thinking we should take Gabbert. Not that I knew he was a lock or Kerrigan sucked, but I knew we needed a ****ing QB. At least try and draft one. And I knew converting a stud DE to LB was not guaranteed. It was a small gamble at 16 as noted on ESPN the moment he was drafted.

So we spent 3 1st's a 2nd and a 4th on 2 a year later. Victory! RGIII may well turn out to be injury prone if this year is any indication. Kerrigan has 2 TD and seems to have transitioned well to standup LB but I don't think he does well in coverage. Kerrigan may have been replaced by Jackson had Rak not turned out to be injury prone.

Gabbert had been stuck behind a horrid OL so he is a deer in the headlights at this point. We have seen that before on QB's we drafted. Maybe he would have done well in our Cousin's bootlegger offense backed by our unstoppable ZBS run game. He is close to bust material at this point but JAX didn't spend 4 picks on him to try to fill a void. They can pick up Avril if they need an OLB.

Moss not cut? Surprising.

Skins need money, especially if the rumor the Skins are after Talib is true (I don't think they are or can afford him). Look for players like Williams and Garçon to rework their deals. They have to.

Back to 2011, I wanted the Skins to take Dalton. In the end though I like the QBs the Skins have over anyone taken in 2011. Accept maybe for Kapernick.

Moss has largely been a stud but I always get that feeling he is going to fumble almost every time he touches the ball. It sure seems like D's were swarming to strip it from him this past year. The word is out.

Not that we have anyone better but I am not sure how much we need Moss...

Whose going to replace Moss' 8 TDs from last season if we cut him? We have no 1st round pick and no cap $$ and we need a FS, CB, and TE at a minimum.

Moss was outstanding in his role last year. He killed it in the NFCE.

This season is all about RGIII's health. We can still win the NFCE and make some noise but I don't think we'll have the roster to stack up against the 49ers or Falcons, or possibly the Seahawks (who I think take a step back this season).

Wrong...he was easily serviceable as a 2nd year guy playing his first full season. Guy had one legit recieving target who was hurt.

I'm guessing a Fla St hater...

So that's 3 guys better than him so far out of that group? He can be a decent tier 2 starter in the NFL.

RE: Moss

I don't see the Skins giving RG3 LESS weapons to work with. Not surprised at Moss staying at all.

Those 3 guys set the bar high for him, but yes he can develop into a Brad Johnson/Jake Delhomme/Trent Dilfer type QB that isn't great, but can get you to the SB and win it.

Garcon, Morgan, Hankerson and Robinson can be a nice top 4 WR group in the NFL. So long as Hankerson and Robinson continue to progress in their development.

Regardless, considering the Skins could of freed up 5 mil in cap space letting Moss go, they should have.

Pro Bowl ST player LB Lorenzo Alexander on his way out of #Redskins, source tells @FOXSports.com. #49ers, #Steelers, #Cardinals top bidders

Bummer if true, but I can't see how the Skins could of resigned him with their minimal cap room.

I never liked Zo at LB. How many part time offense tackles transition to LB? I am guessing zero. I figured when he made the pro bowl, he would be too expensive for us.

man o man, did he lay down the lumber. Too bad he didnt hit like that when playing LB.

He was a D-lineman in HS and College.

But yes he is a special team standout and a good backup LB. Not something the Skins can spend a lot of money on right now. Besides, Niles Paul can pick up where #97 left off in regards to a good all around special teams player.

Cardinals appear to be the front runner:

@alexmarvez #Redskins LB Lorenzo Alexander & #Browns WR/KR Josh Cribbs both leaning toward signing w/ #Cardinals, source says

Which makes him a serviceable QB....and he's played less than 2 full seasons, starting as a rookie. All I was doing was refuting the "he's terrible" comment, no more, and certainly not proclaiming him a star prospect.

I think serviceable is the best word for Ponder. Terrible should be reserved for guys like Mark Sanchez, Blaine Gabbert, anyone on AZ, Matt Cassel, Jake Locker (until he shows otherwise), and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Serviceable applies to guys like Christian Ponder, Josh Freeman, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden (could definitely be in the terrible tier also), Sam Bradford, and Carson Palmer (although he's been terrible recently).

Tannehill is exactly the type of peer I had in mind for Ponder, but yeah, that group.
