You wanted a WR taken because Griffin needs weapons, and you are pissed the Skins drafted a weapon for Griffin at a position of actual need? Can't figure you out.

Mel and Todd like him. Call him an Aaron Hernandez type TE and he is a former QB.

Bruce and Mike get the benefit of the doubt. They've been marvelous with drafting since they came aboard.

A bit of a head scratcher though.

Multiple pass catching TEs is all the rage hence why I predicted a TE taken tonight

No, Niles Paul will not be Shannon Sharpe II

Insurance against Sleepy not regaining form, and putting pressure on Niles Paul to pick up the TE position.

Sleepy/Reed pass catching TE's and Paulson the blocker.

Would of liked another DB, but TE is an actual need position. I'll take it.

No, taking a WR would of been a head scratcher. Sleepy coming off a bum achillies left only Paulson and Paul at TE. Paulson is a blocker primarily and Paul is still in limbo. Don't forget Sleepy is one toke away from a 1 year vacation. This pick makes sense.

With a high powered offense and a big lead. What do all teams do?

Go bend dont break. And you dont need skill players on defense if a high powered offense is the foundation of the team.

Taking DB after DB is almost a waste if we plan on RG3 dictating games for us.

How did the Ravens win the Bowl? Offense, passing to stud pass catchers.

Disagree. Next to Lorenzo Alexander, Paul was the best special teams player on the Skins. And with Alexander gone Paul is the best hands down.

It is a bit of a head scratcher considering we had other needs, IMO. We did fine w/o Sleepy. The offense really doesn't even need a highly rated TE. Logan was wide open when RG3 needed him.

I'm talking about Paul as a TE. Do you not remember all the "this guy is going to be a matchup nightmare as a TE" talks?

Would've liked Rambo here. However I'm not going to doubt the experts on this pick.

I get the bend but don't break mentality, but a defense still needs depth. And the safety position for the Skins is a joke right now.

Merriweather - coming off ACL surgery
Jackson - not eligible to come off his 1 year suspension until week 1
Doughty - good special teams player, but not a championship level backup safety
Gomes - same as Doughty but injury prone.

Pugh, Crawford, Bernstine.

Heck we could bring back Williams.

Fact is our "lame duck" defense did just fine once we started coaching to their strengths. I know you saw Reed kicked ass playing against Seattle. Used to his strengths.

Hall, Josh, The tampa guy we added, Amerson. They can play basic defense.

Rak Jackson and Kerrigan, their jobs should be easier.

Can we all laugh at the Jets? I am already predicting none of their top 3 QBs start in week 1.

I'm ok with the Amerson pick. I imagine with a healthy Orakpo and carriker back in the pass rush will be better. Ballhawks welcomed!

Also where are you guys getting 6'1? He's def listed at 6'3 194 lbs.

The Skins did fine without Sleepy last year, but Griffin was an unknown last year. And so was Morris. NFL defenses will adapt to the Griffin/Morris combo. That means other positions on offense need to contribute. That means the WR's and TE's. Out of those 2 TE needed to be addressed more than the WR's. I would of liked another DB or LB/D-line depth in the 3rd, but I can live with TE.

Paul could still develop into a good NFL TE, but you need to look deeper into why he was moved to TE. He is a very good special teams player and wasn't going to make the team as a WR. So with his size and physical ability he was moved to TE to keep him on the team. And with Alexander gone, and Reed picked in the 3rd, I could see a scenario where Paulson is the odd man out in favor of Paul to keep Paul's extremely valuable special teams play on the team for another year.

Don't sleep on the kid Biggers either.

The skins are returning 21 of 22 starters. Plus meriweather is back along with Jackson.

Hall is likely hungry on a one year deal. This team def did not get worse.

Paul looks like a special teamer to me.

Sure he got a lot of snaps last year, but he was forced into being our blocking back since Paulson was forced to be our hands back.

Maybe it was a blessing. Paul has stone hands.

Right now, Reed looks like a second-day pick who could easily go in the second round. There are a lot of teams that could use him, so waiting to take him in the third round would be risky. Reed could be the third tight end off the board.

Skins next pick is #119 in the 4th. Tonight is only the 2nd and 3rd right? I can't remember.

*edit*

ESPN coverage ends at 10:30, so yeah only 2-3.
