This is going to go over well. The vast majority of HF would turn down giving a 2nd for MacArthur, let alone Jenner. What a GM would do, who knows but that still seems like a bit much.

Toronto say yes, however not sure if Columbus would accept it.

There is no way MacArthur is worth that much, and no reason at all for Columbus to trade a 2nd + one of their top prospects for a pending UFA. Bad proposal.

Didn`t Burke shop Macarthur at the deadline a few years ago and get little interest? It doesn't mean the interest isn't there of course, but it does mean that the interest in Macarthur is lower than Burke's interest in keeping him. I'd say the 2nd should be enough.

MacArthur gets underrated on these boards. Very servicable player capable of 50-60 depending on his role.

A 2nd alone is likely what he'd get at the deadline as a rental.

I think Columbus needs to see what it has with Jenner before they think about trading him.

Is he likely to not put up 50 points in a season at the NHL level? Sure. But the Jackets core is just beginning now with Jenner, Johansen, Atkinson, Murray, Moore, Erixon, etc.

Also, MacArthur is just a rental. No way Columbus should trade futures for immediate help.

CBJ seems to be building a team with hard working middle-sixers who score by committee, so I can see Macarthur having value to them. Jenner is unavailable though. He's a great prospect to have.

Seriously it may be a good deal if the second was on the other side of the package.

No, Burke said he was offered a conditional 1st and turned it down.

Then Burke should probably be fired.

Macarthur was coming off a 60 point season...and if the 1st was late(most likely, from a contending team) and not even guaranteed, then I don't think so.

MacArthur gets crapped on so much it's not even funny. I don't think Jenner is likely to be more than a 3rd line guy, which is something Toronto is swimming in. I'd rather pawn him off to a contender for a late 1st and grab Fucale/de la Rose/Theodore or something.

I think Jenner looks like a keeper. He's a competitor with size and grit and also has a nose for the net. Straight up I don't think you could get Jenner for Mcarthur

Right, because that late, conditional 1st for our 60 point winger was a no-taksies-backsies kind of deal. Are you mad?

Your 60 point winger did that one time and then his highest point total is 43. Lets not make him into something he isn't - he is a 2nd line or 3rd line player on an bottom 10 team.

This is a guy who is a UFA in 6 months. That makes him a rental for the Jackets - why would they make the trade?

Where would he fit in their line up? They already have a ton of 2nd and 3rd line players.

This trade is silly at best.

This, late first/early second and try to draft a guy that falls.

Why does a team like Columbus, who isn't a contender to say the least, trade a high 2nd rounder for a pending UFA like MacArthur? You think Columbus will be able to re-sign a guy like MacArthur after his contract is up when plenty of contenders are looking for depth forwards? It doesn't make much sense to me.

I'd love to get Jenner, maybe add in Colborne since MacA has the value of a late 1st, so then it'd be like a pick upgrade for the difference of Jenner+Colborne. Jenner+Biggs+Ross would be a great 3rd line.

A typical Toronto trade proposal. Toronto gets the better end while the other team gets bent over. I think most in Ohio would politely say no.

Toronto gets multiple pieces, each of which is better than the entirety of what they're giving up.

Perhaps if Doug MacLean was still around...

MacA is worth more than a 2nd. Proof: See Paul Gaustad.

MacArthur is worth less than a high 2nd. Proof: see Antoine Vermette (who's superior to Gaustad in pretty much every way).
