I would do it if it was Hall + Yak for OEL + 1st; anything less than that does not motivate the Yotes AT ALL.
If you want a scarce commodity, you should be willing to pay more than the par value for it. That's just the way markets work. The Yotes would only do it if it drastically improves the team over the next several years. Trading OEL with only one big piece coming back, it really makes no sense or rationale. But if two top-line forwards were coming back, then it starts to get really tempting.
It's the same rationale that I proposed for a deal with the sharks in the other thread: Couture + Pavelski for OEL + 2nd. Realy, that's the only way that Phoenix is going to budge, a offer that is is enticing enough in extra value to make us overlook the loss of a rare commodity. No other offer need apply, period, for OEL.
I think phoenix would do it for Yak honestly. The level of importance isnt the same, but Yak has superstar written all over him. That sells tickets+merchandise. OEl just isnt as charasmatic and isnt as marketable.
For Phoenix. Not for Edmonton. Edmonton would be smarter to keep Yakupov until he's played and lit up the NHL so if they want to trade him they can get Yandle and something else nice.
Why does Yakupov seem to have lower value now than before he was drafted? If anyone suggested Keith Yandle straight across for the first overall pick, they would be laughed at.

Because the Coyotes wouldn't have picked Yak with the 1st overall. Doubt they would have traded KY for it anyways.

Yes they would have. I don't think they would have traded Yandle for it either, they seem happy with him, but if they had the first, they would have picked Yakupov with it. But if anyone (on the boards or in discussions with experts) suggested that Yandle was a fair deal for the first overall pick prior to the draft though, it would have been thought of as ridiculous, unless something else was included.

This is wrong on so many levels that I don't know where to begin. I just don't understand what you are trying to insinuate. Are you trying to tell me:
1) Coyotes cannot use an offensively gifted scorer that would immediately be the top forward on the team.
2) Are you saying that they have such an abundance of offensive talent that they do not need a top line scorer.
3) Do you actually believe that KY is worth more than the 1st overall pick.

This is a joke!!!!
1st off, the Coyotes had Galchenyuk as their #1
2nd the team is built around the defense
3rd, yes I believe it takes time for a prospect to develop, while KY is there and, ATM, is not expendable and if the Coyotes go after an offensive talent, it will be during free agency and not in a trade.
Just to think that the team went to the WCF and you think that the Coyotes would be willing to trade their #1 d'man for an unproven prospect is absurd! Not on a Tippet coached team. Someone has to step up to replace KY before they would consider trading him.

Because he isn't tearing the World Juniors to pieces. He is having a meh tournament so out come all the Yakupov proposals. Typical HF.

Do you have any evidence of this? Its been widely reported that 29 of 30 teams had Yakupov first, and speculation that Montreal had Galchenyuk first is rampant. Not to mention Brian Burke's claim that they had Reilly first, which I don't really believe at all, ha ha.

And everyone knows that Phoenix can't be a major player in free agency (no money). And everyone but you has OEL as Phoenix's number one, not Yandle.

Once again...wrong on so many levels.
1) How are you sure they had Galchenyuk first when it was speculated at the draft that only one head scout had someone other than Yakupov. According to you, that team had to have been the Coyotes, and not someone like Columbus, Montreal, NYI or Toronto. LOL.
2) The team is built around D because it lacks Offence. Precisely why someone would want to inject a talented forward that could put the puck in the net. That's why Tippet is so highly regarded... he's taken lemon and made lemonade.
3) I'm sorry to tell you that you will not attract a top line talent to a team with so much uncertainty with the ownership. They simply do not have the $ to overpay and attract the talent. So sorry to tell you, but YOU WILL NOT BE SIGNING FIRST LINE FREE AGENTS!!!!!
4) The OILERS will NEVER trade Yakupov for KY.

You won't find it verified anywhere but it was stated by a poster on the Coyotes board that their list wad 1. Galchenyuk 2. Forsberg 3. Murray 4. Yakupov 5. Reinhart. You can choose not to believe it. I expect the source has noreason to be dishonest. I buy it, personally. Nobody else has to.

An HF poster said it, so it MUST be true, ha ha. Sorry, that is not evidence.

Are you fellas really attempting to educate Coyotes fans on our team's budgetary restrictions? Like you pay closer attention than us. You are way out of your element here, boys. Trust me, the guy you quoted has a much, much better idea about Phoenix's player budget than you guys do.
Listen, there is no need for things to degenerate into a fanbase lecturing another about their own team. We've got a pretty good idea about our own house, thanks. Here's the long and the short of it, Phoenix is not in a position to move either of OEL or Yandle at this moment. If you disagree, it's probably because you don't follow closely enough.
Absolute ludacris,RNH has much more value than OEL.
Imo, I dont think so.
OEL is a number one guy, while I see RHN being a much, much better second line center option in the future and feasting on other teams secondary shut down lines instead of having to go up against the Bollands, Staals, Keslers of the league.
Call me old school, but I believe teams are built from the net out, I put more value on defenseman than I do forwards seeing first hand with the Hawks how having an abundance of scoring means very little if you dont have players who can actually stop the other team from scoring. And while I understand completely where Oiler fans have suffered to three first overall picks, I think that its a mistake trying to just load up on offensive minded forwards, no matter how good they are projected to be, over getting an above average defenseman who can carry the load good enough to allow those projected forwards to strive. And GM worth their salt will be asking for one of those prized players as a starting point for a capable defenseman, and sadly, unless this year is scrapped, and I think it will be, that might be the best thing for a team such as the Oilers so they can allow their young defenseman to get some experience instead of having to put one of those players on the block.
OEL is so important to the Yotes that trading him, no matter how much depth they have, will create a huge hole. If the Oilers were serious about trading for him, they would get fleeced in such a sellers market at the moment and with such uncertainty what specificly is gonna happen with the new CBA.

You can choose to believe what you'd like. Like I said, it's not verifiable. I personally choose not to rule it out, despite the necessary leap of faith involved. I certainly wouldnt expect you to have the same trust. Why would you? You aren't part of the Coyotes community here.

Apparently not, its not us believing random joe's who have Yakupov as the Coyotes 4th choice in the last draft.
Its no secret that the Coyotes can't spend much. That's why Ray Whitney left. Even your heart and soul was skeptical to re-sign, not because of money, but because of uncertainty. If Shane Doan needs to take that long to think about signing with Phoenix, then I don't think it would take most guys to rule them out completely. Like Ray Whitney did, despite being given everything he wanted with the Coyotes before becoming a free agent.

The whole world knows of Coyotes financial woes, and if for a moment, you think that the Coyotes would be in the, let's say, Getzlaf or Perry sweepstakes, than you certainly know something that i don't know. Not trying to be mean, but do you think that any top line player would consider Phoenix? As an Oiler fan, I can tell you that we had our share of difficulties in attracting the blue chip FA's.
Also, I know that Edmonton values a 2nd line C than a D. IMO, we would not be ready to trade Yakupov for someone like KY
