I actually highly doubt anything happens to the two pranksters. I doubt a.) Deadspin gives up it's sources and b.) NFL/Bills/Bucs pursue anything serious.
More than anything, the Bills and Bucs front offices' should be incredibly embarrassed. A publicly listed phone number allowed a fan to get in touch with the GM of the Bills. What's more, the GM kept calling back over and over again thinking it was a GM of another NFL franchise. The Bucs' front office went through the same thing. If only I could get Tambo's number and berate him for hours, but that's some lax filters. Yeesh.

Four teams - SF, PHIL, DET, TB - in play on Dashon Goldson - but DET, TB considered favorites. TB also in on CBs Sean Smith, B. Grimes, DRC.
If the 49ers were seriously interested in bringing Goldson back, they would have re-signed him long before he hit the open market. Don't get me wrong; Goldson is a good, sometimes very good, player that the 49ers certainly would have liked to keep, provided it was on their terms. Two years ago, after an absolutely dreadful 2010 season, Goldson drastically over-estimated his value on the free agent market and the 49ers basically told him to go shop himself around in free agency and see if anyone would actually give him the big deal he wanted. Well, he ended up coming back to the 49ers on a 1 year deal. This is obviously a different situation because Goldson is a far superior player than he was back then. He's very good in coverage, a rarity for a big hitter. But he misses way too many tackles (1 every 6.6 attempts, ranks 44th out of 56 qualified safeties according to PFF) and has a habit of whiffing in the most important moments. Goldson has earned a big deal. But there is just no way that the 49ers were (or are) going to hand out a huge contract to a safety. It would be a gigantic waste of money, especially when they have needs at two far more important defensive positions (DL and CB).
The Bucs have the picks, capspace and both Revis' college head coach and cornerback coach on staff. I feel strongly its gonna happen but I hope it happens soon so if it falls apart we can still go crazy signing DBs.
EDIT: I also forgot that Jets GM John Idzik worked his way up with the Bucs with Bucs GM Mark Dominik. So many connections.
Love Winfield, but he has been hurt 2 of the last 3 seasons and is at the end of his career. Maybe he has another season or two left, but not at that amount. A slide to safety may buy him a bit more time.
Wish him the best, but more name than production at this point. Leadership void may be the bigger concern.
