This makes no sense for either team.

Canes just traded for Staal. Oilers, im assuming, would want a defenseman.

I don't think the Oilers would trade a #1 RW for a #3 C.

The Oilers have two major needs:

1)Number one-two defenseman

2)Big centreman that can play in the top 6.

Even if he can play #2 C, you're not getting Yakupov for him. The Canes would be adding a lot.

I'm not a fan of either team but why would Carolina have to pay a lot more. Stall is a 24 yr old, 6-4 215 pd proven play-off performer. He had 25 goals in 62 games and is most likely gonna increase those totals by getting out from under sid and gino. Carolina would never do it but Edmonton would solve their 2nd line center problem. Sure yakupov has talent but he hasn't played a game. It seems to me that he also has the potential to be a high maintenace head case. I'm curious as to just how much more Carolina would have to add?

I'd rather see Yakupov play a freaking game before we trade him.

And Carolina just resigned Staal long term too.

Bad trade is bad.

not sure why this could not have gone in the Yakupov thread..
We have like 5 Yak threads on the first page alone.

Staal was just signed by CAR.. making an offer for him is like making offers for J.Schultz...

This is just terrible. I didn't think there'd be a single person to create a proposal for Staal, but you continue to amaze

Just because Staal played #3 behind the 2 best centers in the world doesn't make him a #3 center. He's clearly a #2, and the Oilers would be lucky to have him. He clearly wants to play with his older brother in Carolina though, and they wouldn't risk upsetting Eric by trading him. I think the Oil would want more than Jordan for Yakupov as well, but its simply not happening, so no use in discussing values.

wait... whos the #1 RW?

Staal was 0.81 ppg last season. Basically the same as RNH.

If Yak is #1, then Eberle must be #2.

I actually think the value is there but no way Carolina does this.

What's up with all the Oiler/Yakupov trades lately? I'm pretty sure they're not gonna trade their recent #1 draft pick.

I'm not ready to give up a player who hasn't even played a game for us for a player who has never stepped foot on NHL ice before. Especially after how much we gave up for Staal, and the whole reason for bringing in Staal was to satisfy Eric's (and Jordan's) desire to play with his brother.

I think this has to be one of the funniest and dumbest comments ever made on hfboards, and that is truly saying something.

If you're talking about draft position, Jordan was drafted 2nd overall. If not, you're delusional. Yakupov is the farthest thing from a first line RW, however Jordan is a competent first line centre with high potential.

I seriously want to make a national holiday where all of Canada can laugh at oilersfan11, because obviously he needs the attention. Here you go man. Here's some attention?

Why else would someone write this?

PLEASE GIVE oilersfan11 SOME ATTENTION AND THEN PASS IT ON TO EVERYONE ON HFBOARDS. HE/SHE NEEDS IT.

OK, back to business.

Yes. Haha Carlina just gave up a damn good 3rd line center and a high draft pick among other things to acquire him and get him locked up to play with his brother for the next decade.

I'm sure they just did all of this to tease Eric Staal while really trying to acquire Yakupov.

HAHA you a very funny man, you!

While I agree we can't say Yakupov is a first line rw yet (he hasn't played a game yet), he's a pretty safe bet, and not the "furthest thing" from one. Jordan Staal hasn't shown that he can be a first line center either though, and he likely won't get the chance considering his brother is better. He is easily a 2nd line center though, even though he's been playing 3rd line (or injury fill in on the second).
