It's how cable works economically. ESPN gets less money per thirty-second spot of advertising than ABC, but ABC doesn't get subscription fees. Since so many people would switch their cable company if their company didn't offer the station carrying Monday Night Football, ESPN was able to charge more for the right to watch ESPN when they got the rights. I'm not sure if the drop in advertising money was offset entirely by the increase in the subscription fees, but Disney is run by some smart people and I trust they did the math before making the call.

Been considering getting twitter myself, but I don't know what I would do with it. Just use it to document the stupid crap I do to fill the time between sleeping and make jokes and reference only I could possibly get? Seems stupid.
