I think Slepyshev is a Russian who the Wings could look at in the late rounds. He was passed over last year but it's not a big deal late in the draft. And it's not like there's a big age difference between someone born in June vs late September.
Wonder what him backing out of our prospect camp did for that though. He was supposed to be in our development camp last year and bailed late.

Really? I never head that before. I do remember that Vladislav Shalimov was supposed to come but canceled and they brought in Robert Rooba who was another client of Larionov.

Just remember Kellan Lain was there as well. He was one of the top college UFA's this year and ended up signing with Vancouver.

Remember that as well, but I thought he was supposed to come as well, might have broke differently. They had trouble filling the last couple spots if I remember right.

Another name that interests me a ton is Bo Horvat in this draft. Real heart and soul kind of player, might be around when we are picking.

A guy that was passed over in last years draft that would be an intriguing flyer for me is Max Iafrate. Could probably just wait to get him as a free agent, but he has the size and skating to be a good stay at home guy. Not as good as his dad, but an interesting player.

Has had a rough couple years in terms of his transition to the OHL, but I like the package when I see him and an interesting project should they consider it.

Drafting 18 unless we make the conference finals if the standings are right. Don't know how they separate us and the Rangers. Ottawa could also tie us at 56 points. So somewhere between 17-19. Of course would still like to pick 30th.

I'd love Zadarov.

Lazar, Morrissey, Domi, Hägg, Pulock.. I'd take any one of them, possibly Zadorov too.. haven't seen Gauthier too much.. Wouldn't take Lehkonen or Rychel.

Hartman too if available.

I liked him early on but lately when I saw him (might have been coincidence) he looked like pylon there. He's huge, and uses his size but gets beaten far too easily. Mobility isn't that bad for big fella but imo his hockey sense isn't very good. Don't see much off. upside in him. I wouldn't hate the pick but would prefer others. We already have 250 D prospects that project between #2-#6 anyway.

So I prefer forward. But even more than that, I prefer going for BPA and I certainly haven't seen these kids enough to comfortably say which one of them is looking like one right now and in 5 years..

I'd probably say no to Gauthier. Big body, very sound defensively, but hasn't looked like an offensive force in the U18s. Want us to take someone with better apparent offensive upside if we take a center, since we already have Sheahan.

Pulock and Zadorov would be interesting among D's. I'm a little concerned about Hagg's inconsistency, then on the other hand the Wings don't mind a little project on their hands.

Not only Sheahan, but Andersson, Helm, and Ferraro. The Wings seem pretty set on defensive centers with those 4 at the pro level. I'd love for the Wings to take a gamble on a center with very high offensive potential.

Of course, if the Wings do take a d-man, I think it should be Pulock or Shea Theodore. Supposedly Theodore is Duncan Keith meets Mike Green.

Andersson spoke pretty highly of Hägg during the WJCs.

I just don't know where you are going to find that with where we are drafting in the first round.

Hence why I wanted them to miss out the playoffs and get higher pick

"Did see the wings getting Lindholm at 13 on an nhl.com mock draft yesterday. But i tend to think those three writers are fairly clueless."

Said Dan, the anointed HFB poster.

I don't want Kerby Rychel. I want somebody like Hartman, or Zykov, or Mantha. If we could trade up for Lindholm, that would be great.

I'm not a huge fan of his as a choice if we were in the 13-15 range but at 18 I wouldn't mind the pick. unless we see another player slide.

“I’d like to be a Dustin Brown type,” Rychel said. “Play in all three zones, be a leader. My versatility and ability to play in all situations are my strengths.”
We could use a Dustin Brown style player since were going to a much tougher Division where we are going to need players who can hit back and protect Z, and Gus, Pav as well if he resigns.

Oilers would be open to trading their 1st, they're slated to go 7th right?

If we go out in the 1st round and pick between 16-18, I'd be receptive. Otherwise it will cost too much.

Wings pick at #18 if they lose in first OR second round.

One problem for Kerby, he doesn't skate like Dustin Brown and he isn't as physical. Maybe it could happen in time, do like that he has back to back 40 goal seasons. Wouldn't absolutely hate the pick, but there are other guys I like a lot more in the first round.
