3-2 US is my prediction. Gibson plays an amazing game.

EDIT: Stay out of the box, and your chances against US increase by 10x. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

They did not score an ES goal against CAN or RUS. Let's see their adjustments tomorrow.

4-1 USA.

Jones and Trouba play amazing hockey.

Subban does his best Luongo imitation.

RNH Oilers' it up.

Last time Luongo played Team USA he won 3-2 so.....I kinda hope Subban does his best Luongo impression.

Not sure why you're even mentioning Luongo, but his play in game 7's over his career is pretty stellar. If Subban plays like that I'm confident Canada wins.

I tell you this much. If I never see ****in Russia again it'll be too soon.

I'm willing to do it to support the team but getting up at 3AM and going to bed at 7 has been nobody's picnic.

Now there's something I CAN agree with. I'm glad Ufa got to host, but next time somewhere closer, please...

He went the NHL route so this might not matter, but Luongo at the WJC's wasn't the greatest thing. His first year where he played three games is the last time Canada didn't medal. The second year he got a silver. They were coming off a five gold streak into those years as well. He was named best goaltender though albeit in a losing effort, but guessing that isn't what Canadian fans are hoping Subban pulls off.

Maybe I am crazy (been accused of that and more), but I actually find it part of the allure of this tournament that some years I have to wake up in the middle of the night to watch the games.

Part of the tradition of the event for me - takes me back to all those early mornings with a cup of coffee and a WJC game over the past 20 years or so.

If the USA scores on Canada tomorrow in a decent number and advances are we going to have to hear about hoping the offense shows up against an elite team like Russia or Sweden?

I am sorry the Czechs have played well all tournament and it is pretty rare to blow them out at this level even if they aren't a huge Gold medal threat lately.

The US will need to skate a little better tomorrow, thought they were a half a step slower than they have been worried that all the games might be slowing them just a little. That was an advantage in the first game for the US, but they need to find a way to the middle this time with it.

I'm feeling a 3-1 CAN win.

Subban and Gibson will have great games again.

Teams will be nearly evenly matched. Canada pulls off a couple PP goals and that's the difference.

If anything US's PP looks way more dangerous than ours...gotta keep the emotions in check and not take dumb penalties

I do think the PP will be important as in maybe a goal, but I think it is important to note that these two are really the only teams that aggressively kill penalties from what I have seen. Russia does it at some points, but this sit in a box and invite pressure idea I am seeing with most of the European squads is asking for trouble. Team Canada and Team USA make being on the PP a lot less fun than most of the other teams I have seen in the tournament.

True, but you have to look at who that pp has been scoring against.

I don't want to say anything bad about the Americans, because quite honestly I think they have the second best () team in the tournament, and if we don;t win, I hope they do.

But I think we have the personnel to deliver a win against them, and to have a better pp. I sure hope the boys deliver. If not, I will admit defeat and cheer for the US like never before.

I'll go 3-2 Canada.

Will just have to see how the team plays. But at least Subban seems to be on his game which gives them a good shot at it.

It depends on how/if the US scores those goals. If they score 4 goals on 5 on 3's I'm not going to applaud them too much.

The Czech game wasn't all that impressive. The first two goals were both broken passes that ended up with Gaudreau getting it on his stick for empty net shots. On Barber's breakaway, the goalie fell backwards when backing up. With all the penalties both ways, USA used their powerplay to score 5 and the Czechs did nothing with their chances, plus Gibson is just solid. The game was beyond reach and the Czechs stopped playing for a win by the midpoint.

USA's biggest weapon beyond Gibson is team speed. You are right that they have slowed down as the tournament has gone on. They had the worst schedule of any team. I don't care how young they are, fatigue sets in. This is 6 games in 8 days for them. Canada will be playing their 5th game in 9 days with 2 days rest. They should be much fresher. USA needs that speed for everything...backcheck, forecheck, counter attack and drawing penalties. Without it, I don't see them competing. It's a shame because otherwise this would be a much closer game.

Also, I'm not sure I'll be watching the game live tomorrow morning. I have watched all 4 Canadian games live before.

If Canada loses, feel free to blame it on me.

Canada gets the 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 tourneys and the US gets the 2018 tourney with Sweden next year, Finland in 2016 and Czech Republic in 2020. So, in summary, North America hosts 5 of the next 8 tourneys.

Canada wins 9-8. Wotherspoon scores 8 goals in the first period. Gibson is yanked and Gilles comes in, stopping 99 of 100 shots in the final two periods. Gaudreau also scores 8 goals, but it is all in vain as Wotherspoon goes end to end, toe drag, bar down on his future teamate John Gilles with .1 seconds left on the clock for his 9th of the game. Instead of awarding players of the game, the IIHF awards the Calgary Flames the 2013 Stanley Cup. The city of Edmonton empties as their residents flock down the QE2 to Calgary, shaving off their mullets and offering their clippings as a tribute to the newly appointed Prime Minister of Canada, Jaroooooooooooooooooooooome Iginlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
