Season not over yet but I don't see how he won't be one again minus injury.. sure St. Louis has one more point then him but Kane has him crushed in goals, Crushed in +/-, PIMs.. etc.
I would agree here Kane is the guy to beat with less than 20 games left here.

How did Kane not win another all star team award?

Anyways with Kane's recent run this isn't even a contest anymore, correct?

No matter how many All star game MVPs Kovalev has lol

Going up against the Richard and Ross winners will do that. That said, it could hardly have been closer between Kane and St. Louis for the second team.

That's a case where I'm not so sure about who should really be considered the second team guy. Total votes are 167 to 148 in favor of Kane. Granted St. Louis has more 2nd place votes, but there were 19 more writers with Kane in their top-3. That's awfully tough to call a win for St. Louis.

No terrible Southeast division opponents to pad stats against.

I'd wait until Kane has four Cups and a second Smythe before drawing conclusions. Kovalev could always stage a comeback in Russia and win a KHL all-star game MVP. Has anyone ever won all star game MVP on two different continents?

Both are good choices--this is a good example of why the official all-star teams are more trivia than anything.

Kane's Calder? Because Kovalev had a chance in hell of beating out one of the top 5 most deserved Calder's in the entire history of the league?
You're right, most years a 65-20-18-38 line wins the Calder.

Also Alex is a top 20 or 30 in scoring how many times before age 27 when he finally breaks out?

Kane is plain Able.

Kane and its not particularly close. I don't think it was close before kane won his 2nd cup . On an individual basis, Kane had already accomplished more , forget gold medals, cups ect, team achievements don't really impress me. Individually kovalev just doesn't cut the mustard here. Kane is way ahead IMO.

Did everyone forgot how often Kovalev played the Invisible Man?

Kane is a more consistent threat but if both players were at their peak and I had to choose for a one game scenario I feel Kovalev is a superior talent then Kane. Very unique player, so gifted with his stickhandling, shot and ability to break a game wide open. And also perhaps one of the greatest powerplay players in NHL history, oh boy could he man that area from the half boards on the right side.

Kane no question so much success at such a young age and Kovalev's inconsistency/attitude
