If the Leafs finally make the playoffs?

Will you consider their draught legitimately over? or do they have to do it in a full 82 game sched to win back respect?

All 30 teams are playing in this shortened schedule. So yeah of course it would become a legitimate end to the playoff drought. If the Stanley Cup doesn't get an asterisk (New Jersey 1995) then a playoff appearance doesn't either.

Well if they go like 40-8, it'll be hard to see them blowing that in an 82 game season. If they barely sneak in and then get swept in the playoffs, I think looking at it skeptically is warranted.

If they get in the streak is over, if they don't it continues. Black and white scenario.

This.

Once the playoffs start, the regular season doesn't matter.

Nobody cares the Heat won a championship in a shortened season.

That would be great! They tend to have hot streaks and play well when the playoffs are out of reach, so I can see them making it with a shortened season.

It'd be legit.

All teams are starting out with the same win/loss record.

It'd be legit, though we'd still mock them for it.

How wouldn't it be legit? Every team plays the same amount of games.

If anyone doesn't think the drought shouldn't be considered over, then you shouldn't consider the Stanley Cup winners true champions, which means you shouldn't count Stanley Cup winners before 1943 true champions.

If the Leafs win the cup, there should be an * next to it. Only the Leafs though, any other team winning should be considered legit.

They always perform very well in one half of the season. The only question is, which half will this be?

Provided players are not rusty from lockout Leafs will make the playoffs this year. They started very very hot last year. If they can find that spark watch out. They might do more than just MAKE the playoffs.

theyll adjust being bad for the shortened season accordingly so that no butterfly effect can occur

If the Leafs finally make the playoffs, then they make the playoffs. That's that.

But I'll still take heart knowing that the Canucks owned the Leafs through an entire CBA lockout to lockout.

Are you one of those guys who thinks the Leafs and Canucks have a big rivalry? Because they don't.

If you are just picking two teams, fair enough, you're absolutely right. The Canucks have thoroughly owned the Leafs during the past CBA.

And as it's been mentioned alright, I don't see how it wouldn't count, as all 30 teams play the same schedule.

I just don't see it happening without an upgrade in goal (whether that's outside help, or improvement within the organization) and another piece up front.

Legit, but it would be in their best interests not to qualify. They need another top pick to have any hope of turning the situation around for the long term.
