Delete, So NHLPA will file disclaimer, using time to make owners fold before their time?

Easy...because last time the deadline was Valentine's Day, a full month later.

It would show they aren't very close.

Am I wrong in thinking that some of the principal figures in both lockouts are the same? I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Also, IF they don't file tonight, doesn't mean they can't take another vote tomorrow and File on Thursday or Friday. DOI doesn't HAVE to happen tonight.

That pretty much will destroy any trust left between the two sides. no way they come back if the PA files.

This is exactly what I thought would happen. Both sides dug in a bit here. especially the NHPA. They know they have the disclaimer tonight and will push this hard. I could see a deal in principle tonight or it could blow up for a couple days.

Either way, a deal gets done in a week or so.

Can't wait for hockey to be back!

IF there's no deal tonight (good bet) - and even if both sides leave toinight unhappy -- doesn't mean season is done either.

The players filing the disclaimer could be the final kick in the pants that gets the final deal done. That's kind of what happened in NBA.

I don't trust either side right now. I'm so pissed. Way to go NHL, and you wonder why most people in the States don't take you seriously. The NHL is a circus league, bunch of clowns.

Why do people think there is a deadline for the DoI? Do these people really think a judge is going to bother with how the DoI came to be?

Some legal experts over on the BoH seem adamant that no judge would ever rule a DoI "unfair labo(u)r practice"

I have to wonder. What is more likely to keep people tuned into TSN? Hopeful positive news about the lockout or negative "everything is about to blow up" news?

Look at some of the players in that meeting. Are you in the least bit suprised that pension issues are holding up a deal?

if they do file it means they aren't as close as we like to believe and it would take a miracle. If they don't file, it means they are as close as some believe. 84 minutes to go.

If the NHLPA uses DOI they are bigger idiots then I thought. And thats damn impressive.

DOI does nothing to hurt the NHL at this point other than make it more complicated to get a deal done. It doesnt allow the players to gain anything due to how it has been used throughout this process. In fact, if they use it, the NHL can just point to tonight for it being illegal as a bargaining tool.

This is pretty ridiculous at this point. Not that it wasnt before obviously.

That's a great point. And the players talking/texting LeBrun/Dreger/etc aren't going to reveal everything, both sides have their poker faces on.

It could also be the death blow to any hopes of NHL hockey this season.

this is par for the course for a guy like dreger. he will throw out every possibly scenario everytime because he knows if the throws enough **** at the wall, something will eventually stick.

I agree with the end, but its all about deadlines, and they will squeeze each other until the season is on the line. Look at how absurd the offers were in October. And by season on the line i mean the very last day.

I've never been one to say the season is over because of some tweets, but IF the PA files the DOI, you can count me in the group that believes the season is over. These guys have had months upon months to do anything without the DOI, u think they could actually get something done adding that on top of it?

Good point. It's hard to say anything, until their meetings are done for the night and either Bettman or Fehr say anything about their negotiations.

-Lebrun thinks if the players file DOI tonight season might be over, if they don't a deal will get done eventually in his opinion.
Lebrun thinks season's over if they file the DOI? And Dreger actually had a vibe a deal could get done today? There's a switch. Lebrun has been pretty adamant there will be a season throughout the whole thing. Whereas Dreger, and Mckenzie were saying back in September they think season will be lost.

How about an avatar bet between the people who say we will get hockey this season and those who think the season will be cancelled? The winning side gets to get together and pick the avatar everyone on the losing side would have to use for a limited time (month maybe?). It would have to be appropriate, of course..
