For every first-line player who signs three one-way NHL contracts with big paydays, there are dozens of players who get called up, sent down, called up, sent down, waived, signed elsewhere, play in the minors, get called up, hold down a spot for a year, get outhustled by somone younger, etc. ... all while on two-way contracts. Pensions are a HUGE concern for the rank and file because of that, I would expect.

Considering you have to play X amount of games (years) to qualify for a pension, and the minimum salary is what $500K, there is no reason they should even need pensions set up for them. Let alone have it be costed to the employer.

It takes normal people 20+ years to receive pensions in a lot of jobs. Its just another luxury the players are money grabbing about.

Probably almost immediately. Bettman or Fehr could just walk out of the room and tell everyone.

Not long, I'm sure the meeting would end if Fehr announced he was filing, and then someone would comment on it from one of the sides almost immediately after.

For people's information: All PA has to do to file the disclaimer is hand a letter to Bettman.

And people are saying all Fehr has to do is hand Bettman a letter before 12:00. What if Bettman says the letter was presented too late? Is there any official witness in the room?

It's when you forego the interest on a savings account to avoid taxes.

So if they get hurt, they get paid whatever is left on their contracts. Thats guaranteed money. Thats a luxury not a right.

And youre telling me if they start sucking it up they wont get the big money? Well no ****. They dont deserve to.

Where did this rush of negativity come from? Twitter went from optimism to Dregerface to quiet to explosion of DoI stuff and negativity.

It's going to get ugly on here if the union disclaims. Should have enough entertainment to get me to the 4 am puck drop of Canada vs USA.

Really??? Do you hate Bettman that much? He wouldn't pull such a underhanded move.

Honestly what is a disclaimer of interest? Would that be good or bad for hockey to start?

I think NHL Centre Ice is a separate entity from the NHL, so the NHL is not in a position to give it away for free.

Plus the Owners will be too busy trying to come up with new ideas to fleece fans out of their money
