The Blues...stuck in the Vancouver Airport...8 hours and counting.

So the Blues are supposed to be playing the Sharks in 23 hours in a different time zone and are currently stuck eating overpriced sandwiches at the Vancouver airport.

Apparently they are missing a part on their plane.

How does that happen?

Well the view is beautiful if it is not cloudy. There is also a nice hotel right at the airport.

Something needed to be replaced? Better on the ground, than in the air.

Well after the game the plane had an "accident". It was fine before the shootout finished though.

You beat our hockey team, we steal a random part off your plane.
Luongo + plane part for Backes + Halak.
Take it or leave it.

Grabovski must have helped him a bit, airplane wings are HUGE. That wing will need a tetanus shot.

The past year Canada's World Juniors team had been awake for 30 hours — including for their bronze medal loss to Russia and flights to Helsinki and London — when they landed at Heathrow to find out their flight to Canada had been delayed a further 12 hours.

I remember when Dan Cloutier injured his groin at a morning skate in 2003. Johan Hedberg had to play and the Canucks AHL team was in the East and Alx Auld couldn't get a flight out.
So they signed a UBC 3rd goalie named Chris Levecque as a one time backup.
You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Levesque

...why were they awake on the flight?

Are we just assuming they can't sleep on the plane?

Plane has a mechanical problem and are waiting on a part. Sounds similar to my goaltending style and NHL career.

@CoreyHirsch
Going on 8 hrs stuck in the airport with no end in sight.... Currently taking offers to wrestle shirtless in the Premier lounge.

@CoreyHirsch
Open memo to the person that left the 9 inch long pubic hair on the toilet set in the public restroom.... This isn't the 70's...

Sorry...

They may have slept on the hour flight to Helsinki, and then the 3 hour flight to London.

So they were awake for about 26 hours.

If this goes on all night, will they postpone the San Jose game?

The plane doesn't have enough depth on the left wing.

Interesting you mention that. I think this is the last season Canadian NHL teams use Air Canada. AC went and removed first class seats from most of its charter airplane fleet, and NHL teams like the Canucks, Sens, Flames, leafs who lease from them were NOT happy.
