Because Tambijevs probably had to prove himself right for choosing Merzlikins as the starter in the early games of the tournament...

Well, Merzlikins father didn't buy the starting spot, that we know for sure.

Anyway, it isn't over yet, we've marginally outshot them in both periods, but as we know, it's always hard to come back against Czechoslovaks, when they get their noses in front.

Unfortunately, we probably don't have three goals still in us to win this game cleanly (God, how I hope I'm wrong).

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you just mean both Slovakia and Czech Republic, seeing as your from that side of globe you know...but here is Canada so many people still say Czechoslovakia, including the TSN announcers who said "Czech player" at two dozen times in the Canada-Slovak game, which drove me up the wall...

Either way this turns out, I'll be cheering for the you Latvians against Germany. What you guys do with the tiny population of that country is quite simply stunning, even moreso here at the junior level where you only have at best two years of age groups to choose from.

Still hope the Slovaks don't let up and therefore make that last game versus Finland meaningless

Germany didn't even bother against Slovaks, they know which game is going to be the most important one.

I'm afraid that if we are sent down to DivI we won't get a promotion for a looong while.

You mean Finns? Germany took Slovakia to OT in the round robin (which carried over to the Relegation standings)...

Seeing as the final standings decide the groups for next year, I think no RR game is meaningless. Though of course I know what you meant.

You base this assumption on what? Yes we are closer to D1 than Elite7 or 8, but our A roster is clearly superior to any of D1 teams (maybe bar Denmark).

Maybe after Denmark is promoted and before Norway is relegated (2014?), we might have a chance.

Isn't 1994-1995-1996 supposed to be our strongest years since like ever? (well, since 1990, to be most realistic) As long as Tambijevs will keep his hands away from this team, promotion back to the elite shouldn't be considered a huge achievement.

Very annoying, the IIHF tracker does not show the time

Urgh letting Latvians back in game, shots now 8-1...

EDIT: now 10-2 despite the PP

You can kinda estimate time on the clock from those little blue squares just under the period score. But yeah, it's not the most convenient option in the world for sure...

Hey at least it's Arturs Kulda's little brother...I'm a big Arturs Kulda fan, really wish Winnipeg can(and wants to) lure him back to NA, he is a really solid player...

But damn, clearly the Latvians came to play in the 3rd...
