Really disappointing that Klefbom had to miss this tournament. What a waste it was keeping him in Sweden for this year. Hindsight I guess.

They did have an easier group, but the US lost to both Russia and Canada before winning in the Semi's so I'm not sure going 2-2 in a tough division is any better than undefeated in a weaker division

Yeah but Sweden made it in by winning the skills competition. The last 3 games have been huge wins by the US. They're rolling right now offensively and have been aces defensively and in goal all tournament long. And they'll take that momentum into a game that has a gold medal on the line. I don't think Sweden has a challenge like this all tournament long and that includes Russia.

I remember seeing some swedes rooting for the Americans against Canada here and on Twitter so they could get the "easier" match up. We'll see how that turns out.

Im not buying it. Losing 2 games but also winning impressively cant be described as dominating. And since when could an undefeated team be said to have stumbled through the tournament.

Sweden seems to be seriously underrated in this upcoming clash, this however is something I like. Being the huge favorite has on many occasions not served tre kronor well

Why? Because Canada lost to them .I really, really don't get this thing with Canadians rooting for the Russians or anybody else for that matter against the USA. Someone would have to enlighten me on that. I've heard this is what goes on at tourneys in Canada all the time. Does it make you feel better rooting against the USA? I've never sat down and actively rooted against Canada . All things considered I root for North America.

The US was the arguably the better team in both losses, dominated play for much of them, and had some bad luck, and goaltending go against them.

I don't expect a lot of scoring on either side. My guess would be 2-1 or 3-1 USA, with a potential ENG on top, but I'd be a bit surprised to see many more goals scored.

The thread locked almost immediately but if I just saw right they are having an all-american officiating crew? Why? Just invite controversey.... So stupid if this is true. They might call things too far to appear impartial, but if they don't then this will be a sticking point likely with many Swedes. What in the world IIHF, must be one of the most incompetent organizations and that is saying something in the world of sports.

The Swedes and Russians had an American crew and they reffed it like an NCAA, aka swallowed the whistles entirely.

Win or lose, Sweden has really impressed these past 2 years: winning gold without Landeskog and Larsson and following that up by getting to the gold medal game without Brodin, Klefbom and Lindholm is amazing.

Having said that, ROCK, FLAG and EAGLE!

Holy ****, USA is winning by a landslide. Let's not forget this Sweden team is very very solid. It'll be a close game.

I'm interested to see how Sweden fares in this one. I am pulling for the US and think they get it done.

Read any Canada game day thread. 99% of non-Canadians cheer against us and that most definitely includes Americans. Deal with it.

Also, imagine living next to you guys. You aren't exactly the most modest people out there. That said, I have many great American friends.

If the US crush Sweden and IKEA goes out of business, it will probably be the best day of my life. Also, all Swedish meatballs suffer irreversible freezer-burn.

It's Don Cherry's fault. Everytime I hear one of his "Ontario is the only place great hockey players come from" I end up cheering for anyone to beat the Canadians. Shame too I'd rather see the Canadians than Sweden or Russia. Someone stick his oversized collar in his pie hole and I'll change allegiances.
