Oh I am so pumped for this. SO PUMPED. I want to go to sleep now so it's draft day already!
Even though there's not a lot of stand-out talent in the first round, there's quite a few kids I'd be pleased to welcome to the Jets family. I can't even pick one fave now that it's so close, at this point I'm happy to just ride it out and see what happens.
It's mindblowing that it's already time for Draft #2 for the Jets.
Pumped! Can't wait to see who we select 9th overall. I am also really looking forward to Saturday to see who we select in the rest of the draft. Exciting times, I love this time of year.
That means that there would still be one of Reilly, Dumba, Trouba, TT, Grigorenko, or even Lindholm, or Girgensons available.
Nothing against Ceci, but I've seen a lot more glowing reports for most of the available above compared to him. I would obviously have to trust our staff, but a Ceci pick with some of those guys on the board would defiantly leave me a little underwhelmed.
Here's how I think the teams ahead of us are going to draft tomorrow:
1) Edmonton: Nail Yakupov (Tambellini confirmed earlier today that they're taking the "consensus #1" player)
2) Columbus: Ryan Murray (second best player in the draft after Yakupov)
3) Montreal: Alex Galchenyuk (Montreal gets the big center they need)
4) New York: Griffin Reinhart (I think they want a defenseman and Reinhart's stock has risen big time)
5) Toronto: Filip Forsberg (He's the best remaining forward excluding Grigorenko, who I can't see Burke taking anyways)
6) Anaheim: Jacob Trouba (They take a lot of players out of the USHL/NCAA and with Schultz gone, I think they'll take a defenseman)
7) Minnesota: Teuvo Teravainen (Imagine Teravainen and Granlund playing together both on the Wild and international tournaments throughout their careers)
8) Carolina - Radek Faksa (They'd take a Kitchener Ranger for the third straight year)
That would leave the Jets with Rielly, Grigorenko, Dumba, Girgensons, Lindholm, etc.
Tuevo Teravainen
Morgan Reilly
Grigerenko

Size is being overrated and overhyped by alot of people. I think there's a very good chance that either Reilly or Teravainen will be there at 9 and if we pass up on them I will supremely disappointed
Can't wait! Booked off work at 1 so I can prep some ribs, make some burgers and get down to the cabin and have a few beers before the boys get out there. It's going to be a rowdy evening
I really really hope we take Grigorenko. I get the feeling he'll be one the top 2 players in this draft, and I think any team taking him will be extremly happy.
I'm very excited and pumped in this year's draft, much more than last year. Hoping we draft Faksa/ Grigs but one of the defensemen wouldn't be too bad.

I hear what you're saying, but I would be thrilled with any one of Reinhart, Faksa, or Ceci. Various draft lists and mock drafts are totally different and extremely difficult to assess. After Yakubov, Murray, Forsberg, and Galchenyuk (more or less) there is no consensus. And every player discussed has some question marks, be it size, physicality, work ethic, skating, or whatnot. I, for one, don't beleive that Reinhart or Faksa will be available at 9. I really want Faksa but if Chevy et al were able to draft any of these 3 then it would be because they were very impressed and beleived them to be the best pick available. I'm sure that whomever they draft, there will be some discontent and this will be debated for years to come.
My personal bias is that I don't like to draft small forwards or undersized dmen. We already have too many of those. I want to go with big strong bodies with demonstrated work ethic and character. Talent seems like a worthwhile trait as well but all 1st rounders seem to have that. If they can sing and dance, that would be a bonus.
