Boggles my mind that some Canadians seem to want Russia to win. Some of you should just move out of the country.

It's okay to cheer for a team that doesn't have a maple leaf. Not all teams have the same players, and are coached the way you would like them.

If you're from a certain country, cheering for some other country to beat your own is just asinine.

Sometimes you have to do it for the sake of your own team.

This might apply to a team that'll still be together after tonight, but many of these kids won't be on the team next year.

That's why the WJHC is the best school for all of them. Some players (and coaches) have to learn it the hard way. It's not about being unpatriotic, it's about teaching them a lesson. I don't mind Russia losing the bronze, but I do mind Varnakov staying.

IMO. If there weren't the booing fans in Vancouver, Esposito wouldn't give his speech and the Summit Series would have gotten a different outcome.

Agreed! We should be like North Korea. You shouldn't be allowed to cheer against Canada. Whether it be their arrogant "Gold or nothing", tacky commercials trumpeting how they rise to the occasion, nauseating fans that claim Canada is the be-all end-all when it comes to hockey. Nah, that wouldn't turn any hockey fans living in Canada off.

If this game was against Sweden I probably wouldn't wake up for it or even care to watch it. I didn't watch the Bronze medal game last year either but I will definitely be watching this one. Both Canada and Russia don't want the embarrassment of not meddling and I think this game could be as good as if it was the Gold medal game. Just because of the history of the two teams and the fact that it`s in Russia.

So you'll be cheering for Canada then? Because Russia's coaching has been abysmal.

The outcome had little to do with the speech or the booing fans. It had everything to do with Clarke chopping down Kharlamov.

Poor sports (the typical guys that would take their stick/ball and go home when things do not go their way).

OH BTW to that other poster above...I cheer for Sweden to do well because I like the style of game they play; not withstanding the North Korea comment above.

Will take a look at the highlights for this when someone posts them.

we'll see - i've already tried to fall asleep for the "wake up early" aspect - but can't...and i don't want to over extend myself re: staying awake - and then fall asleep and sleep through the gold medal match that i want to watch live.

it's the danger of not being able to sleep...so trying to stay awake until 4...but then falling asleep and sleeping through the 8 am start of the game you really want to be awake for live

I believe Russia is going to win the game since they are obviously going to be motivated playing for pride in front of thousands of their home crowd. Coupled with the fact that I doubt Spott even has good motivational and preparation skills necessary in order to increase the morale of deflated Canadian Juniors.

Hell, please win Russia. I don't want a terribad Canadian coach to be rewarded for his stupidity when he constructed this team.

If our guys played with heart and were ready to die for the bronze medal, I'd be cheering for them. But I don't want Varnakov to start using the bronze as the reason for him to stay.

He won't stay even if they win, too much criticism of him in the Russian media. This team was the best team Russia has had in a few years (Although missing the likes of Kuznetsov, Tarasenko but defensively far better and more depth offensively).

Don't see him surviving even with a bronze medal, Bragin will probably return.

Frankly speaking I won't bet on it. They are already saying that loosing in a shootout to the defending champion is not a big deal. I won't be surprised if Varnakov stays in case of the bronze. And I'm not sure about Bragin either. Bloody hockey politics....
