Barry Brust recalled from Reading...

A Royals fan is reporting on the AHL Boards that Goaltender Barry Brust has been recalled to Manchester. This coincides with a conversation I had with Andy Nowicki between the 2nd and 3rd periods of last night's Monarchs game. Garon was pulled after the first period, Andy told me that Garon wasn't feeling well and asked to come out. He also indicated that they sent Grebs home prior to the game with "flu like symptoms"...

The team as a whole has been on the decline as the season has wonr on. When you have so many of your top players out with injuries you can only play at a certain level for so long....

Yes true but i mean Garon has been taken out from a few games now due to poor play which isnt really defenses fault - Last game its because he asked to but otherwise i think its what many have said that he has a consistency problem meaning like Cechmanek yet not half as bad he just wears down fast since he never played this much

This call-up has nothing to do with performance ( Which hasn't been a problem with Garon or Hauser ).

Garon is out with the flu.

well im going to disagree with you on this one. Garon has been very inconsistant this season. Too many high's and lows for me. But yeah it has been reported Garon has "flu-like symtoms"

This means Brust has been improving.

Last time I saw him he had major consistency problems He would stone a few shooters and then let a flurry of goals in.

For all his inconsistencies, Garon's stats are only slightly worse than Hauser's with a larger sample size. Lets not forget the goals that Hauser gave up to Binghamton and Worcester. If anyone other than Hauser gave up those goals, they wouldn't be allowed in the building again.

Frankly, I think Garon's hurt. I have no information that indicates this (links, inside info, or anything like that) but that's what I think. And I think he's been hurt for a while. His play is just to dissimilar from what it was at the beginning of the season and I don't think it's an issue of stamina. Or, it was stamina and he got hurt from too much time on the ice. Whatever the cause, that's what I think it is.

Don’t know what you would consider a “larger sample size” but here is a recap of the Monarchs goalies since the beginning of the year which is just about 50% of their played games. It does not include the poor performance of the team during their trip to Norfolk, Hershey, Philly and WB/Scranton.

As you can see, Hauser and Garon have pretty much split the home games and have equal records regarding those games (Hauser has one more home game than Garon – Sunday’s game). It’s the away games where Garon gets the lion’s share of the action: twice as many games with twice the winning percentage. So, in actuality, Garon is outperforming Hauser in terms of winning percentages. Take away the last game in Manchester against Providence and their home records were identical.

As an aside, I was a little surprised at these percentages. I thought Hauser was doing a better job in net than Garon, but I don't think that now.

Well it is under the assumpsion by quite a few people that Garon is hurt, most likely a knee issue. Why then should he continue playing? Take the time off, get it rested in time for the playoffs. Hauser is more then a capable goaltender.

I was thinking about that comment myself. There's just no way to know if the icing is part of his normal post-game routine or a sign that there's a possible injury...

If Garon is back in a few days, then the flu would make sense...
