if we can't score on three lines, they'll consolidate and Butch will end up on the second scoring line while Cullen resumes a checking role.

According to them, we've been doing that since 2000.

Meh. If it takes this long to realize they can play that game too, then they really are screwed. Can't be soft forever.

After the scrimmage last night... I want Cullen and Powe gone.

I've met Matt, but sheesh... bus is just rolling right passed him.

Powe looked like hot garbage.

No room yet on the Wild. He'll be there soon.

Swedish pride eh? Sorry, no room for Larsson right now. He'll likely get his chance in a year or two. We'd have to sustain at least three of four injuries to our forwards for him to be called up too. Zucker and Coyle, probably Palmieri too are ahead of him on the depth/call-up chart (assuming Palmieri clears waivers). Dowell and Veilleux may get called up before him too if we're looking for more experience.

Disagree, Larsson is the first Center called up if needed.

Cullen, Powe, Mitchell. All three of those guys are natural centers who will play wing because we already have enough centers. If anyone gets injured we'll just move one of them to center and call up someone else.

Eh I thought Powe had a really nice shift last night. Not worried about him.

He is redundant now and not nearly as effective as a guy we just waived.

I can agree with that.

However, I think the team may value his position flexibility, ability at the dot, PK presence, and character more than some may realize. I think that won out when you weigh Powe vs Palmieri, IMO.

Per Russo, sounds like Brodin isn't too far off (participating in most practice activities) and that PMB was officially activated from IR.

I believe Powe still has value to this team. He's flexible in what role he can fulfill, but excellent on the 4th line.

Cullen, reminds me of a fish flopping around on land. I'm so tired of seeing him sliding around all over the damned rink after he gets knocked off the puck by anything...

He's fast, yup. Never been a fan of his.

I like the top line a lot.

Second line, I kind of wish we could get Butch on it. A skill guy to play with Granlund vs two guys who struggle a bit. Coyle would be a good fit as well as he likes to crash the net and with his body he can make room.

Another idea is to swap Cullen and Brodziak and put Granlund on the LW. But Brodz is not as good on faceoffs as Cullen, which hurts. I like Cullen's shot but I like Brodz's overall game more.

Oh well. We'll have to see more games.

If Butch were to be on a line with Granlund we would need a player like Perry, Neal, Burrows, D. Brown, etc. to compliment them. Not only to bury the puck, but protect them, plant by the net to push bodies around and get gritty in the corners.

That line wouldn't work with anyone we currently have.

For me, this is Dany's signature goal.

And if we keep him on the first line he will get a dozen of these...

Parise - Koivu - Heatley = TotalWin

I like the idea of Butch on the sesond line as well, but unfortunately that line would be a little soft... Been trying to come up with an idea that would work, but with our current roster, that might be the best we can do.

The idea of three scoring lines is not too bad though...

It'll be very interesting to see the production of the 3rd line through ~5 games or so. If they're contributing, awesome. If not, we could see Bouchard bumped up really quick.

He does have a real nice shot still..yes...yes...

I hope with him skating a little better this year, and Koivu staying healthy, that line might be able to pull our butts out of the NHL goal scoring gutter, for once.

I mean when Phoenix scores more goals than you...Whew

Even before last night, I have had a lot of questions of Cullen-Granlund-Setoguchi. Going to be too many turnovers and very weak on the puck. That's more concerning than any "size" concerns.

That is a good point. Aside from Granlund, both Seto and Cullen have wretched puck control. Cullen falls down just at the sight of it...

I feel like our third line is better balanced overall, when thinking of it in that light.

I would move Cullen to the third line. He's reasonably good on d and with faceoffs.

Butch on the second line makes sense, but the Butcher and Granlund together would need a more physical linemate than Seto. This is where I wish we still had Big Bear...
