Unfortunately for Dumba, Suter's partner is Spurgeon.

But spurge is already a superstar. its time for him to mentor someone new now that he's taught Suter all he knows. time for suter to take a fledgling defenseman under his wing.

Don't get your hopes up... Suter's D-partner is the Spurg!

But suddenly the team has taken a turn for the better and it's outgrown him. I don't want him moved because he lacks skill and leadership. He's still a great player, but is on the decline. We need the open roster spot as well as the bonus of freeing up cap space. We have a log jam, and he is very close to getting passed up by some of the rookies.
There is no reason to rush Zucker, Coyle and Larsson though. They will get their shot via injuries or next year when PMB and Cullen are gone. In a shortened season, I would rather go with the experience.

I really don't want to pencil anyone out before the season ends. That being said I'd move Clutterbuck before PMB, for now. PMB would most likely have to play in the 3rd line, so it's more about if he's willing to stay I think. He'd be a heck of a 3rd liner and you could move him to 2nd and 1st lines and it wouldn't cause a problem. Valuable player, barring any injuries will happen.

Hey guys. Friendly Leafs fan here. Just had a quick question about Granlund. I took a chance and drafted him in my fantasy pool, as I have heard some great things from your fans and just general hype. I did read that he might get 2nd PP time, but what are your expectations for him in terms of points? Not sure if I should start him or let him ride the bench until he starts producing (or not).

Thanks for the input. Good luck this year!

He's a bust. You were a moron for drafting him.

Reasonable expectation for output is between .4 - .7 PPG. I think its fairly safe to assume he won't get less than that, and I would be surprised if he got more. Likely output is probably in the middle around a half point per game with more assists than goals(30% goals, 70% assists as a rookie).

He will get every opportunity in the world to excel and exceed those expectations though.

I think in this shortened season he can get around 40 points... 10-15 goals, 25-30 assists.

If Kassian plays tommorow, I'm expecting something like this.

Parise-Koivu-Heatley
Cullen-Granlund-Setoguchi
Clutterbuck-Brodziak-Bouchard
Kassian-Konopka-Mitchell

Extra: Powe

Suter-Spurgeon
Stoner-Gilbert
Falk-Prosser

Extra: Dumba

Backstrom
Harding

I'm still holding at my 8+25 prediction, although I would expect a bump if there is some line shuffling.

Yes I know that but looks like I can't see it from my laptop.

He's looked real solid... good offensive instincts, has not looked out of place defensively.

We only saw him in the one open scrimmage, and he looked as solid as anybody out there. As advertised he put himself in some great positions to lay huge checks on guys, showed off a nice slapper and didn't get too lost in his own end. He was aware enough to know that he shouldn't steamroll Granlund in a scrimmage but he showed he could.

Pro: nice hard shot, very aggressive, fast.
Con: too aggressive (and out of position) sometimes, not the most agile player.

I'd like to "rush" him but i'm probably the only one. Rush is a very bad word around here...I mean, there are people who think Brodin should play in the minors.

Even crazier... there are people who say Granlund should be in Houston!

wrap them in swaddling clothes and don't let them play in the NHL until they are 2 points per game in the AHL. or 25 years old. whichever comes first.

Nah. Part of my reasoning for saying Granlund stays in Houston are that I want him to mold with the chemisty and I also don't want his rookie campaign so short. in an 82 game season... solid Calder contender.
