For bottom lines role.

This call up clearly isn't about it.

If it was an injury call-up only. Waivers only come into play after the re-called player plays in 10 NHL games. Thus it would not be an issue for Palmieri or Dowell.

This is not just an injury call-up thus they called up one of the top prospects who is expected to be in the top 6 for the Wild for many years to come. it would do no good to call up Coyle to play 3rd/4th line minutes. They'd call up Dowell or Palmieri for the 4th line or Larsson for the 2nd/3rd lines... but Coyle and Zucker will only get called for 1st/2nd line duty.

I think the only reason the Wild call up the young ones is the fact they dont have to worry about waivers on a temporary fix. I wouldn't get to excited about Coyle's call up. He is servicable right now without the risk of losing him on waivers

I dont know know I am asking. Would Palmieri or Dowell have to go through waivers to go back to Houston?

Again... waivers has nothing to do with this move at all IMO. It has to do with the role of the player being called up.

This is not just a simple "injury replacement" call up. The injured player is expected to play, yet the called up player is also expected to play. This is a lineup shakeup move.

The answer was in the post you quoted. Because Palmieri and Dowell have both already cleared waivers. They do not go through waivers to go back down again this season until they have played 10 games in the NHL. If they were called up and played 10 NHL games? Yes. If they were called up and played 3? No.

When did Palmeiri and Dowell clear waivers? They were not on the opening roster.

Palmieri cleared a day before the opener I think and Dowell was never called up so I don't think he had to be sent down...(might be wrong and if I am he cleared the same day as Palmieri).

All players with an NHL contract that are waiver eligible had to clear waivers to go to Houston... so yes, Dowell cleared the same time as Palmieri.

There was a mass exodus of players through Waivers the day before the regular season started. Palms, Dowell, and Veillueix (good god I don't know how to spell his name) all cleared.

A physical Power forward. He is skilled. He did well at Wild Pre camp. He is usable.. Fletcher is not in the habit of throwing away assets as far as i've seen.

In case your wondering, I'm a Minnesota transplant living in Houston. I go to every Aero game I can. Palmeri was a lone bright spot for a long time
