None of you should be paying much attention to Garrioch. He's only good for spreading Ottawa Senators trade rumors, usually ones involving Radek Bonk and/or Chris Phillips.

What that quote is trying to say though is that Bettman and co knew there was a deadline so played ball until then and when Fehr said no filing of DOI, they changed tact .
Which I don't get because they haven't had any large multi-topic meetings, to my knowledge, unless they're upset with something from the small pension meeting earlier today.

Either that or [tinfoil suit: see avatar] the PA asked the membership to plant some 'insider' info to various reporters as another pressure point on the NHL?

Interesting, just looked it up and it appears that $50m for "sport" is valuation that comes from what they get in revenue sharing.

Sport: Portion of franchise's value attributable to revenue shared among all teams.
Market: Portion of franchise's value attributable to its city and market size.
Stadium: Portion of franchise's value attributable to its arena.
Brand: Portion of franchise's value attributable to its brand.

They are in worse shape than I thought.

They don't have to desperately try to get it back, if that threat of it was actual leverage it's pretty simple to get back.

Now Garrioch is implying there's been some kind of change since the option of DOI was taken away,

@SunGarrioch
As I said this morning, the tone of talks changed with disclaimer off the table as an option. Thus it is being brought back

This was basically my point. There are alot of other factors involved here. But everyone seems to point out that the Coyotes lose $20.6M per year and should therefore be cut from the league.

That teams hold value to itself, the league, and other franchises. This issue is not so simple as to just kick out all the non-profitable teams.

Everything is being blown out of proportion by Twitter.
Yeah, I heard that too on TSN. If true, its pretty frustrating that they are now complaining about "moving the goalposts" when they've had the position for a week.

The only thing to trust Garrioch about is where to get a cheap buffet and who has the best deep fried sticks of animal lard.

Pretty much. All we know is right now the two sides are in a meeting discussing Pension Plans which is pretty much the biggest issue right now. For all we know they can make a lot of progress on this and really bring things to a head here.

Like I said earlier, the vote for the disclaimer really means nothing.

Eric Macramalla, whatever his reputation is has been implying this can or would happen.

Again not sure you know what you are talking about. The Coyotes got about 20m in revenue sharing not 50m.....shaking my head

I really dont think it was that big of an issue. They noticed it, had a meeting to clarify, and solved it.

Twitter, of course, is sending people over the edge and causing massive misunderstandings of what is going on. We've now got former players saying talks are dead when theres a meeting going on at this very moment.

The players aren't going to use disclaimer when the sides are so close. It's an empty threat.

I didn't read up on how Forbes comes to their numbers but I assume it's not just revenue sharing in the form you're talking about it, it's all revenue shared among the league. National TV money, merchandising, advanced media properties. Essentially revenue shared by the NHL, which for some teams includes revenue sharing.

I didn't bother reading through though.

It's kind of your obsessive girlfriend threatening to break up with you to get what she wants.

Pathetic and pointless.

That's the case with most franchises, yeah, because most of them aren't that profitable. The Leafs make a lot of money and that's why they are worth so much. Keep in mind, the arena accounts for 30% of the Leafs' franchise value. Almost $300m for the building alone.
So in your statement that I could not figure out, what is the percentage the stadium is worth for the Coyotes?

What is that? 24.6% Your right it is almost all the value. How did I miss that.
