Keep in mind, there has been a lot progress made in these negotiations, lots of issues agreed to.

They're basically heading down the home stretch, either they score or fumble.

Insert Romo/Sanchez joke here.

Yes, but on this site is always the league that is right. So, if the players say the league tried to sneak something in, and the league says the opposite, it is the players in the wrong.

Probably closer to the 11th than anything. The PA said that the NHL had a date in mind all the time, so the PA is aiming for that date as well. They said that they will not see the best deal from the NHL until the deadline, so in a self-fulfilling prophecy, the PA wont offer their best deal either.

Both sides are aiming for the deadline when the NFL is confined to Sunday games only. The NFL has Thursday and Monday night games all season, and Saturday night games the next 2 weekends. That all ends on the 19th weekend, when the NHL wont have to compete for any of those days.

There has been a rumour that some language was changed after the elapse of the DOI.
So the players are voting again to show they mean business evidently.
.
The league said that the changes were marked and tagged and the PA has had them for over a week , therefore it had noting to do with the DOI.

That's the way I see it. This is a complex document hundreds of pages long. The usual way to track revisions is to black-line or highlight in colour changes from one draft to the next. Whether or not the NHL flagged this is not really the issue. Why would they try to weaken penalties for non compliance with HRR calculation in the first place. Just a dumb move by Bettman and crew and one that they were forced to back off of when they were called on it.

I take this as meaning you would watch replacement players. Sure, eventually teams would have their own players that were homegrown but it would take years before the league had enough quality players to have a decent product.

Dreger is more or less the owners' answer to Larry Brooks.

Brooks says the owners' tactics have the players irate. Dreger says the owners set everything out well in advance. I'd be willing to bet that the truth lies somewhere around the owners mentioning some things but not others, and the players being concerned but not caring too much as long as this gets done.

Edit: Misread. How is breaking even worse than losing money?
The last two lockouts got salaries from 70%+ to 57%, which is still too high.

When the cap returns to 70M w/ players getting 50%, the league will be in pretty good shape as HRR will have to be very high and low salaries + 220M in rev sharing there should be 30+ healthy teams.

And breaking even isn't worse than losing money, it's worse than getting 8M.

This all seems like posturing for the NHLPA to look better in the courts, since they would've been laughed at before this round of talks... They're pretending to show that they are trying to negotiate "in good faith".. Hey, they even allowed their first disclaimer deadline to pass!

I am convinced the season is over.

No one has been as one-sided (in journalism) as Brooks. He's only surpassed by Allan Walsh. For a guy so be so biased, you have to think his credibility takes a huge hit.
