Tavares would cost a little more than what Karlsson would, so not gonna happen.

I think Taveres is their franchise now. I don't think they want to move their future Captain.

Well, that's a worse proposal by far.

There's absolutely no way on this blessed blue Earth that Tavares costs more than Karlsson.

Tavares means EVERYTHING to the Islanders, which is why it would take a tad more to get him IMO. Both players values are a little higher than nit gonna happen though.

Yes he would. There are about six players in the world with more value than Tavares and Karlsson isn't one.

And you don't think Karlsson means EVERYTHING to the Sens?

Without Karlsson, the Sens are literally a lottery teams. Bottom 3. He is everything.

There's not a single player in the world I would trade Karlsson for.

Crosby has health concerns.
Malkin is closing in on UFA.
Stamkos, Tavares, Giroux, etc. aren't that much better offensively to justify trading Karlsson for them.

So I would love to hear who are these 6 players.

Does it really matter, both are in the never gonna happen category.

Sure. Just saying Karlsson means everything to Ottawa. He's every bit as valuable as Tavares.

Totally disagree.

Karlsson just put up 78 points as a defenseman, 25 points higher than 2nd place, at age 21.

His value is in the Crosby/Malkin/Stamkos/Lundqvist stratosphere, an area Tavares hasn't reached.

In sports, trades are made because both teams believe it will benefit them in some way. So, explain to me how this benefits the Islanders?

S now Lundqvist has more value than Tavares? If you were to start a team are you really telling me that you would pick Lundqvist over Tavares? Hes a great goalie, but lets be realistic there are plenty of goalies you can win with.

Karlsson and JT have similar value, I value Centers more than I value defensemen, so I would rather have Tavares.

OK.

let's say the goalie is Lehner.

Lehner is beast. Future top 5/10 goalie in the world potential. And I'd say sure-fire #1 goalie.

Cowen is a future top pair D-man. Beast as well.

Michalek is a 35 goal winger. Pretty good.

Ziabnejad is a future top six power forward. Probably not sure-fire, but he's a sure-fire NHLer.

1st rounder in a very very deep 2013 draft, will be a good player.

for

a 90+ point centre.

I dunno, seems like a lot of good pieces. Not saying you should do it at all, just proposing it.

Lundqvist always had more value than Tavares.

Yeah I'm taking a guy who's best in the world at his position over a guy who, at best, is 4th.

I'm taking a guy who has had 7 elite seasons over a guy who has had 1.

I'm taking the guy who has taken a franchise from the depths of hell to 6 playoff appearances in 7 years over the guy who has yet to see his team finish higher than 13th (Not his fault, I realize that)

Shocking, I know.

The issue is that the only established piece you're offering up is Michalek (who is a UFA in 2014). The rest are great prospects, but the Islanders have enough of those. Tavares has already established himself as a top 10 forward in the league, with the potential to do even better. Just no incentive for the Isles to do this. Takes away the heart and soul of the team and doesn't fill any needs (aside from Lehner, but again I think the Isles are comfortable with Anders Nilsson in the goalie prospect category).

OK. I certainly did expect a 'yes'

Tavares-Spezza in the Spengler Cup has Sens fans salivating
