When I think of Varly I think of series between the Rangers and Washington when Varly took over Theodore and stole the series. Kid is going to be great in Colorado.

Was watching Varly today. He looked very confident and really sharp in the net. You could see the Avs were getting that confidence and playing very solid in 3rd.

Varlamov is usually excellent at home. Below par away. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has noticed this.

well, last season, even though he had a way better SV % at home (%0.924 vs 0.904), he had all of his SO away from home and his win-loss record is almost identical

I still have yet to forgive him for his God-tier performance against New York on St. Patricks day last year.

I can't forget how he stood on his head during the Pen-Caps series in 2009. He was the only reason they were even in that game. I can't believe it was just being hot. My god he was nearly unstoppable right up until the 7th game

Varlamov was fantastic tonight. Very quick in net, and he never looked out of position.

Seriously, if Avs improve on defense, Varly will be a Vezina contender for the years to come.

Fantastic trade by the Avalanche
None of these third tier goalies will amount to anything (Niemi , Varly , Crawford)

Lehtonen is better and much more unsung. Guy doesn't get the love and credit he deserves.

Varlamov is great, though. Can see him being a top 10 netminder for a good while.

Pretty sure Niemi has won a cup

And please don't ever compare Varlamov to Crawford.

Lol Stars fan comes into a Varlamov thread to gloat about how good Lehotonen is.

Varlamov is finally starting to realize his immense potential. Almost impossible to score on in breakaways due to his insane agility.

So did Chris Osgood. Great teams can win with mediocre goal tending

I like how your team is trying to trade away Lou to start a third tier goalie then.

O wait I forgot Schneider is going to be the #1 goalie in the league and Lack will be #2. Get real, most goalies aren't even in the NHL when Varly entered the league, and they definitely don't top out at the age of 24.

We always get beat by the team that goes on to win the cup though. Kings, Boston, Chicago, Ducks, Detroit

Schneider is 26. He has gone through an extensive development. He is not a flash in the pan.

Neither is Varlamov. And re: your other post Varlamov is better than Crawford and to put them in the same class is ridiculous.

Post salary cap performance is a good indication as to what teams were buying Stanley cups prior. Do you see where I am going with this...
