Yeah, chances are low that it would actually happen...but it could. Let us have our dreams.
Welker is the kind of declining veteran that I could see signing in Buffalo. Harvin? 1 in 1,000,000. Both of them? No chance.

I want Flacco but I'm not going to pretend it's a even a remote possibility.

Are you talking about the Buffalo offense that just went out the door with Gailey, or the new offense based on what Syracuse ran?

Either way, if Marrone is serious about adjusting scheme to fit talent (which he proved he was at Syracuse), and is still in the phase of evaluating what talent he has, I would think it stands to reason to acquire the most talent possible for him to start with.

Welker would be a free agent signing. Harvin would have to be acquired via trade (and would probably be cost-prohibitive to acquire). I agree that it's not likely, especially with the front office cutting money early in the offseason in Barnett and Wilson. Also agree that there are probably at most two spots for inside receivers.

Is Johnny Knox still fast? He could be a cheap outside option.

Sort of, though I haven't played Madden in a few years, so I may be dated in what I'm thinking of.

Unfortunately, there may be no franchise QBs available this off-season. Such is life at OBD.

From CB's blog, Nix said today that they will pursue WR, LB, QB and TE. They have three UFAs targeted which will dictate their draft.

I wonder if the Ravens slap a tag on Dannell Ellerbe. I know he said he wants to stay, but I would definitely inquire. Also maybe a Mario-Connor Barwin connection. It's worth a phonecall. I just hope it's not Scott or Pace.

I'd take a flyer on Ellerbe if he hits the market

Per PFT, McGee has been cut.
No problems with that, he had a good career but it's time to part ways.

Just got the ESPN text.

Damn.

Sad to see him finally let go, but not shocked. His effectiveness has dwindled significantly.

Expected this. They gave it another shot when they restructured his contract last year, but he just can't stay healthy.

He was great when he could play, sucks to see what all the injuries have done to him.

I heard on WGR that the Bills said they don't plan on offering a contract to RFA WR Donald Jones.

I'm dumbfounded Barnett, Wilson and McGee were all cut before Chris Kelsay. Kelsay needs to go, I will lose my mind if he weasels another year being on the team.

He's almost certainly the next one to go...they need his cap space and with Williams/Anderson/Moore, there's no spot for him at DE, and we know he sucks at OLB. Although I am curious why they are staggering the cuts instead of announcing all of them at the same time.

Landry wants 6 million per year and it seems he would like to work with Pettine again.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl...eason-preview/

SI does their offseason preview for the Bills.... pretty much draft a LB, TE, WR... sign and trade for all the Jets defensive players and run the ball more (and resign our free agents)

SI where a monkey can write an offseason preview with no creativity!

So far, I've been pleased with the cuts. I like all of those players, but it was just time to move on. It's good that OBD has taken a more proactive approach with regards to this year's roster, and hopefully have made (or will make) enough room to fit Byrd, and Levitre under the cap.

Packers cut Charles Woodson.

Yeah he's old...but want. Badly. (This is assuming he was released for cap reasons, not for health)

I have no idea what the Bills do in this draft. They desperately need help in the secondary and at LB. I also wonder if they take Nassib in 2nd round(assuming he's still there).

Well of course. It doesn't make much sense to get rid of Fitz now if you don't have an obvious successor. They'll most likely draft a QB in the first two rounds and then have a Fitz/Jackson/Rookie competition to determine the starter.

It'll be like Edwards/Losman/Nall all over again.

At least 2 of the 3 cut players failed physicals. I'm not sure that's a "proactive" approach, however, I'm fine with them leaving too.

Franchise tag for safety is $6.8M. That won't be a cap issue. I'd be very surprised if Levitre returned.

It's a good move. Especially if Buffalo plans on drafting a QB high in the draft. Let Fitzpatrick and Jackson compete, and the rookie can sit out a year learning. Makes a lot of sense, if they draft a talented QB this year.

Nix said they are targeting QB, WR, LB and TE (in no particular order) and have 2-3 players prioritized in free agency. I agree that CB is a major need, but maybe they still have hope for Williams. Based on need/value, LB looks to be a likely pick at #8. Allen/Patterson a wildcard.

I honestly don't see what Fitzpatrick has to offer at this point. I'm hoping they're just saving face until a March 1 axe job. I'd rather sign Matt Moore to compete. Alex Smith is floating, so this is still a fluid situation.
