For everything you hear good about junior hockey in the United States, like this article:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sport...rticle6899427/

The NHL and the professional players greed have fundamentally killed the momentum.
If an end of the season happens, good luck to American hockey development. Previous strikes in the NHL and MLB have hurt the league bad.

I'm positive that with no hockey this season, it will hurt hockey growth in the States.

Why would the NHL lockout have any affect on youth hockey or youth development in the US?

The NHL generates interests in both kids and their parents to play hockey. If it went away for a long time, it would be pretty bad for US hockey. If they cancel this season and restart next year, I don't think it will have much impact.

I suppose it might be a problem in places where the NHL has facilitated the development of junior hockey.
