This is it. We finally get it back today. Please.
Even if they agree it would probably take up a day or 2 to draw up the paper work and make a announcement

Yes, we need to put some of the blame on the owners.

Three work stoppages all in which the players ended up, or held, the the upper hand in revenues.

No one is absolved from blame, but you do have to understand why the reasoning for them. The players are doing all the giving because they held the better hand for 19/20 years. The only giving the owners have to give are lesser items they'll have to fight for next time.

Last, remember the players are just as much responsible for those almost 2 full seasons lost and 3 work stoppages.

Do you see any, any NHL hardliners shoving that down the PA hardliners throats every chance they get? No, now lets keep it moving forward and stop going<-------They're close and any of this garbage really is getting old.

So stop goading, everyone.

sorry.

End rant.

Nobody wanted to avoid this lockout more than Bettman did.
Can you name one thing Bettman did to try and avoid this lockout?

Fans care about lockouts, business men care about the bottom line. As much as we'd like to think we matter the bottom line matter much, much more.

No it's not. This has become a multi billion dollar business under his leadership. Not only will the NHL come back even better then before, the owners will continue to come up with marketing gafs that make it so.

For instance, what if the NHL implemented a wild card series every year before the playoffs? 4 more teams with hopes of making the playoffs, all eyes on the 4 teams, more money coming in.

It just starts there. The NHL has a list of things they'll talk about when the game comes back.

I know, but this stressful roller coaster would be over and we would actually have something else too look forward too rather than a metting that just gets pushed back 4 hours.

They have to be pretty close for them to be meeting face to face now. If they weren't I doubt the mediator would have them meet if he felt after talking to them separately that they weren't close.

no a deal would be announced today if they agreed, the paper work, votes, all that formality stuff would be done while the players and teams start up training camp.

i can't believe HF members still believe it will take days if not a week to get the players back to start training camps, even though every single media, bettman himself has stated it would take just a day to start up training camps.

Bettman has done some good things, the Canadian Assistance Plan comes to mind immediately. But, I don't see him as some visionary, and I'm not all impressed by the "record revenues" on his watch. From where the NHL was previously, record revenues was almost a certainty.

When Bettman's time is up, it would be nice for the NHL to look for a commissioner who is less of a lawyer, and maybe more of a creative business visionary.

I am pretty sure there would be a announcement saying they have a deal in principle.

They prepared a work room for the media according to some of the french MTL reporters there.

Could be a sign this will be a long meeting.

Aside from wanting to negotiate more than a year before the CBA expired you mean? Remember they were rebuffed by the NHLPA a.d it's membership.

The NHLPA is every bit the business the NHL is and the players are showing it. Both sides are to blame for the lockout but one side is more and more appearing greedy while simultaneously crying wolf.

When in mediation, mediator makes the call on when to meet face to face if sides are close in his mind. If that's case could be good sign

The NHL hasn't made one significant move in these negotiations to get a deal done, I don't see how starting this charade earlier could be seen as a move to get a deal done.

For fairness sake the players haven't either.

Encouraging note...we'll see what happens. That mediator deserves a round of drinks or steak dinner from any fan that crosses paths with him...his effort is appreciated since these two sides were acting like children for the last few days.

Most rumors have pointed to games starting on the 19th. But rumors can be wrong.

The meeting is standard procedure, nothing more or less,it does not mean there close etc..
With hours to doi, this is to be expected,a face to face....at very least ,looks good for camera

Hey..hey hey hey... this is supposed to be Sad Saturday. This break in the schedule has me a bit optimistic. Let's hope they are rounding things out this weekend. There is just WAY too much on the line to cancel.
