Even a casual observer of the game can see that they're both defensive liabilities. It boggles the mind that they played even 1 second of hockey as a pairing in this tournament but in OT of a medal game?
Why were they ever together?? they have been crap since they been put together by Spott in the last 2 games.

RNH is even a liability in the faceoff circle at this level. Quite surprising. Lost 12 of his 17 draws tonight.

Great game, Russia. It was mostly fun and they deserved the win.

HC needed a stern lesson and hopefully, they got one.

Well for what it's worth the majority of those guys are 21-22. Very few true freshman can hang at that level.

Rielly was pinching to stop a pass. Of course he wrongly expected his D partner to cover his man.. fault kinda on Rielly for thinking Murphy could play D better than he.

Defense was bad, but Harrington earned his job. He was the only real defenseman there. Best 3 for Canada announced: Harrington, Scheifele, RNH.

What excuses are being made?

I see a lot of blaming Murphy and Spott, but no one is making excuses. Unless you are actually taking the people saying "we didn't have Murray" seriously...

Rielly checked and saw he had support. Moreover, he did hit the pass partially, the puck just managed to get to the Russian anyway. I think the blame goes to Spott, for the pairing, then Murphy, for literally not defending on the play. Rielly made a play that should have been safe, and would have had he a decent partner (again, spott is at fault)

The age group of these players is closer to high school football than it is to NCAA. Not many freshman play significant roles as it is.

Maybe in a crazy way Canada not getting a medal and the streak finally ending will be a good thing.

Boone Jenner had a heck of a game for Canada. CBJ got a huge steal in that kid.

You know, I love how people relish in Canada's defeat... it's like we are the Yankees or Patriots... hated because we win so damn much. It's fine, complimentary. Hate on I say.

Either way, congrads on the Bronze Russia.

I look forward to next year, there will be lots of returning players with long memories. Should be interesting... add's spice, I like that.

Total lulz on Murphy goal... rewinding and watching again, it gets funnier every time.... and MAJOR props to the poster who called CAN/RUS winner would be Murphy.
