Tor - Pit

To Toronto:
Sutter
Kennedy
Tangradi

To Pittsburgh:
Kulimen
Bozak

Top 9:

Lupul Sutter Kessel
JVR Grabo Kadri
McArthur McClement Kennedy

Dupuis Crosby Neil
Kunitz Malkin Kulimen
Cook Bozak Jeffries/Bennett/Vital

Does this make Toronto's and Pittsburgh's top nine better? Is this a lateral move? Does either team add? Or is the trade proposal all BS?

Why, because the players the Leafs are offering play for the Leafs?

Pittsburgh gives up most value and Kulemin looks good with Malkin in KHL, but I'm not sure it's worth downgrading at #3C.

It may or may not be a slight improval of PIT`s top9 (we`ll always run the gamut in Kulemin opinions), but it is just bloodily slaughtering the third line in a way that is not happening. I have just gotten used to Sutter, I want to see him play in black and gold now.

There is zero reason for Toronto to do this. We've got plenty of bottom 6 guys already and even though Bozak isn't a top 6 player on many teams, at least he has chemistry with Kessel so he's a top 6-er for us. Sutter is not the answer for Toronto's #1C question.

This is a deal that actually makes no sense for either team.

Bozak....Sutter... one has proven chemistry with Phil Kessel and is a UFA, the other is younger, probably better defensively, and has years of control. Should be pretty obvious that both teams would prefer to not make that swap.

Kennedy...Tangradi...Kulemin... I'm just wondering why the Leafs would make such a clear downgrade...when they're loaded with depth up front, and short on size in their top 6?

Not a chance.

From Toronto's perspective... Kulemin > Tangradi and Gunnarsson > Orpik. That being said, we would be interested in adding Orpik if it could be done with Franson being the defenceman included, and not Kulemin as the forward.

So if was to add dupius and take out Kennedy and Tangradi would that make the trade more fair because Dupius is a top "6-er" for us??

Stutter may not be a true number one center but your not going to get an established #1C for Kulimen and Bozak.....

From Tornoto's side I agree mostly

No, Dupuis would struggle to be a "top-9er" for us.

Bozak is a more established #1C then Sutter...

The whole argument that we should make this trade because Sutter is the best centre we can get with those 2 is absurd. First, Kennedy/Tangradi are included, so they obviously have more residual value than just Sutter. Second, even if Sutter was the best centre we can get, that doesn't mean it makes sense to downgrade the centre position, while losing Kulemin in the process.

You're not understanding... If we're trading for a #1C, it isn't only Kulemin and Bozak we're going to move. You're the one bent on using Kulemin and Bozak. It has been proven time and time again Pittsburgh and Toronto are NOT good trading partners.

That's not what he was insinuating. He was simply trying to explain why it makes no sense for Toronto, because their true need is a number one centre, which Sutter is not.

If Toronto is giving up the player who is currently slotted into their #1 centre position, the Leafs better be getting a centre back who can play with Kessel.

What a terrible trade for Pitt. And I am not a huge fan of either team.

Toronto already has a mindless ram in Phaneuf. Don't need to dumb the defence down even further. Team's cumulative hockey IQ takes a massive hit in this deal as Kuli and Gunner are two our smartest from a D perspective. Passssssss.

Yeah, let's trade our most physical defenseman for another guy that's ok at a bunch of stuff but doesn't excel in one particular area.

Gunnarsson is a lesser version of Niskanen.

You mean Gunnarsson is a much better version of Niskanen right?

I'd take Gunnar's game over orpiks right now and definitely in the future.

Kulemin for Tangradi is just an insult completely.

No, Gunnarsson is a totally average third pairing defenseman.

Not a good deal for Toronto but I would rather keep Orpik anyways, and if we're trading an NHL defenseman, I doubt it would be to get another one with the depth cthe Penguins have, it will be for picks/prospects.

How does this trade helps the Leafs? Sutter and Kennedy aren't much of an upgrade over Bozak and Kulemin. An awful trade for Toronto.
