I, for one, was very impressed with the way your countrymen played. Had several great opportunities. If Gibson doesn't make some of those key saves, the outcome might have been different. I realize that it is disappointing to not be able to successfully defend the gold medal, but your team has nothing to be ashamed of and were just excellent in the tournament. I tip my hat to your team for making my team work for their win.

USA was the best team in the tournament, so I think they deserved to win but still proud of Sweden, great tournament despite lacking some great players.

Good to see you can pull out the Canadian playbook on how to react after defeat.

Congrats USA. Happy for Biggs and Sparks.

Lesser known Leafs prospect Tom Nilsson played well for Sweden too.

Wow...keep talking.

Didn't you guys finish somewhere around 7th last year? Isn't this the first time sine 1998 that we didn't medal? Every country has their off year and this year it was us. Keep chirping us if you want but just like Brazil in soccer, win or lose, we know we will be back next year.

So the idea that the man on the street couldn't give a crap and therefore it is embarrasing for the world is hogwash.

The US is training an army of hockey players and should be a dominant force going by this. Of course you could argue that you're 2nd best in the world but you'd be wrong. Lord knows that you wouldn't be the first to argue that ones own country is THE best or 2nd best.
I'm not saying they are the second best just that the argument could be made; I think USA, Russia, and Sweden are all kind of on the same level at this point. I just disagreed with you saying that we should be a "dominant force" because we have the second largest number of players. Shouldn't we just be the second best then?

I should point out that I think Sweden is an incredibly impressive hockey nation considering their numbers. I love the way they play the game.

By the way the two fastest teams I have seen in the tournament played today, I don't think that is an accident. Especially in a quick tournament like this, when the legs wear down a bit, they were still so explosive.

These arguments never amount to much. The US has 300 million people, all of whom played soccer as a kid, and we still can't find 11 that are good enough to beat Guatemala regularly.

We had the worst schedule.

3 sets of back to back games.

7 games in 11 days or something stupid like that.

Not bad.

When was your last gold? Oh yeah 2009. How many has the US won since then? 2.

And maybe next year you can celebrate a medal instead of post counts. What you did in the past means **** today.

Plus if you ask Canada we just steal their kids and use their leagues. 500,000, why go there just figure out which one of the 700 NHL members are about to have kids and pull trades.

Look at that list again and really think about what you just said.

USA, Finland, heck even though Sweden really only has the one big guy I still take them before Canada.
i think you're selling canadas options short haha. i still think they have a good group. USA has a few guys i would take first, but canada has more options i think...

however, just lundqvist alone would make me pick sweden, even if he were the only option haha. the man is just incredible.

Erm, not true. We are 10-0-5 vs Guatemala in the last two decades. The last time Guatemala beat the US was 1988.

Incredibly, you've proven my point. I certainly hope you're not equating Nazism with positive patriotism or national self-interest. That would be stupid.
