Chi/Pit: Frolik for Kennedy

Chicago gets more consistent production at a lower cap hit, Pittsburgh gets more upside and size in a potential top 6 option.

Whaddya think?

I think the values more than fair as a Chicago fan (probably skewed in their favour if anything). Having said that, I'd rather gamble on Frolik's upside and him regaining some kind of finishing ability. His percentages couldn't get any worse (right?) and I think he's fine as a 3rd line place holder at the very least.

If he was to be traded I think it would be for a pick and the cap space.

Kennedy has more value at this moment. No way would I do this unless 1.) Frolik proves he can produce consistently 2.) Something else is added in the deal.

Maybe. He's been at about 4% for the past two years, though.

I'd do a 4th in 2013 or a 3rd in 2014.

I can't see PIT doing this, Kennedy is quite a bit better than Frolik.

How does this make sense for the Pens? At this point Kennedy is more of top 6 winger.

I explained how it made sense in the OP. We're banking on Frolik's skill and upside.

Worst case scenario, we lose a little scoring but inject some needed size into the line-up. TK is not a critical player for us at this point.

I really like Frolik and would consider this. I've always liked TK's hard work and 0.5 ppg production though. I think his importance for solidifying some offense on our 3rd line with Staal gone means we keep him for now.

I'd be interested in trading a D / D prospect for Stalberg and Frolik.

Does Frolik use his size though?

I'd probably swap Kennedy for him straight up in hopes that he puts it all together, but I imagine he'd quickly chafe under Byslma and the Pens would eventually regret it.

Frolik doesn't use his size at all. He's a pest though and has good speed. He knows what to do, has good skill, he just can't finish for some reason.

Awful for the Pens.

Frolik is barely an NHLer.

That was pretty funny.

If I were the Pens I wouldn't do it, Kennedy > Frolik.

It's basicly like Kennedy for Raymond except there is more size in Frolik and more Speed in Raymond.

Since you quoted the person, who originally made that very proposal, it is pretty sure they were refering to the counter "Harrington and Vitale" with that "NCIH". Which really, is the only reasonable response to that.

As a Penguin fan i'd pass. More cap and less production just to hope that Frolik regains some sort of a scoring touch. Not to mention that Frolik has another year left on his deal going into a season where the cap is going to be cut. If Kennedy sucks this half-season we can let him walk, if Frolik sucks we'd have to use a free buyout on him or are stuck with his contract.
