The owners do care about the game. Nobody buys an NHL team to make money. If you're worth billions, you buy more expensive toys. These guys care about their teams, just as much as my 2 year old cares about her dollhouse or I care about my boat.
Exactly. Owning a team only gives you prestige...And bragging rights...Profits are not relevant ....

I am sure Fehr wants it done by Monday not because of any DOI or concern for the league, or even so that the players can play more games and earn more money, but because that is the day he has to go to court and his legal shell game collapses.
To be realistic, and anyone that really went through the 04-05 lockout, i won't be happy, pleased, or really outwardly optimistic, until all the papers are signed. That said, it seems they are quite close, now it comes down to who's going to move the final few inches on a few different areas.
