Too bad it's only the pre-season.

I wouldn´t put too much into that. Preseason games mean nothing and teams often let guys #50-60 or so in the system play. I don´t know what team the Rangers came with though. Note: Alexandre Daigle had 2 assists...

Wow, what went wrong; that's almost too unbelievable.

A defensive minded team like the Wild score 9 goals on the totally offensive Rangers?

I demand an explanation!

Manny was in net for the Wild.

Yes, it's only preseason. But it was a real bad showing for the Rangers. They played no d what-so-ever. The Wild kiddies were moving the puck too easy. To be fair, havn't the Rangers played 3 straight games? I read that somewhere, but it doesn't seem right.

I know it was their second game in two nights anyhow. Might have been three in a row as you say.

That is correct, as they played Dallas Friday, the Wings last night, and the Wild tonight. However, even though thats a pretty rough stretch to jump out the preseason gate with, I point more to the actual defensemen for the Rangers that were suited up..they are the following

NYCHOLAT, LAWRENCE
JAKOPIN, JOHN
WELLER, CRAIG
LAMPMAN, BRYCE
MIRONOV, BORIS
PURINTON, DALE

Spare Mironov and that's pretty damn AHL if you ask me. Not surprised they had trouble handling an NHL club tonight, even if it was the trapping Wild.

Either way I'm not concerned, its only preseason. I won't lose any sleep tonight over it, thats for sure.

Mike Dunham, Jesse Markkanen was in the net in the beginning.

You guys point out that you had AHL defensemen out there, so did the Wild. Mitchell and Schultz were the biggest names. Our forwards are a bunch of rejects from other teams including the Rangers or junior league players.

Markkanen started and was replaced by Mike Dunham after the first period...neither could keep it out of the net tonight

You might not believe it Dario, but de Vries might be a step slower than he was even last season. Saw him against the Wings on Saturday. Didn't do much of anything of note, but he was paired with Poti and de Vries had to stay back while Poti was all-out offense all night (which oddly enough was my suggestion for his best partner for that very same reason; he can't push up when Poti is already in there).

Ok, you're right, there is *one* group that cares, and that's the owners.

Pre-season games are simply a way of bleeding extra revenue from the season ticket holders.

Most of the Wild's forwards were non-NHL guys. I'd be tempted more to point towards the third game in three nights than the quality of the D.

That's right, we all know that whoever scores 9 goals in the preseason is going to win the Stanley Cup now, don't we?

Seriously though.. I think the obvious point being made was that Preseason is not going to dictate how teams will perform in the regular season. Or was that point to difficult for you to grasp so you had to point out the obvious that people "do" care about the preseason.

This is the time where teams fiddle around with their lines, prospects and just prepare for the regular season. If anything, it means certain players are deciding their fate (of being sent back to the AHL) more than the team's fate.

Well that certainly isn't DeVries' strength. That's a setting him up for disspointment as an aquisition at that cost.

How did you see the game Lap, was it on a cable broadcast in Denver?
