Real negotiations could have been done off the October proposal but evidently even as late as the early December negotiations Fehr told the players to hang on, they could get more if they waited until the last minute..

Monday they would all have been compelled to go to court. Perhaps the NHLPA case was not something Fehr waned to give a test run.

The debate will now be whether or not Fehrs strategy of stonewall and delay was worth it.

This is a load of bull****. This wasn't the PA's deadline and Fehr was operating under the premise that the NHL would act in bad faith until they reached an internal deadline and that's exactly why we are where we are. I can't believe some of you on this board will still pretend this was all about the evil Fehr and his brainless PA members when we've just seen the league sit down and CONCEDE on the CONCESSIONS they've been demanding all along.

But then my statement of 4.225 would also be wrong (and allowed based on your take of the information provided)

Either way I think it's going to be interesting to see the actual nuts and botls of it all.

BTW, it was a pleasure debating with you and the other guys throughout this process.

I'm under the belief that every experience provides for an opportunity to learn something. It was very educational these last few months.

Thanks
Hahha, I'm glad the lock-out over and I can go back hating other posters simply because they're fans of teams I don't like

But back to the variance, there are 3 issues that haven't been confirmed yet:

1. Is the 35% based on first year of the contract or the previous year of the contract?

2. Is the 50% minimum based on first year of the contract or the highest year of the contract?

3. Does the 50% minimum apply to all years of the contract or only the last?

No, it isn't. If they're in the Olympics, what the point of the World Cup? Well, of course to make money for the NHL and PA but no one cares about it outside of Canada and it has little value after the Olympics.

Actually next 2 seasons after this shortened one. So you can buy-out one player next summer and another in the 2014 summer, if you want to. Or you can buy-out two players either next summer or 2014 summer.

It's ALWAYS about the money.

Allowing the NHL'ers to participate in the Olympics is about the money. The NHL as a league could care less about the Olympics if it didn't expand the brand by exposing players to a different audience.

As for the World Cup, It's usualy held 2 years after the Olympics and yes, it is about the Money and Brand expansion, but it also provides GREAT Hockey as it is a tournament of All Stars actually playing hard as opposed to the abberation that we have to see year in and year out in the middle of the season.

Plus it's on the smaller rinks which I like and prefer.

Don't get me wrong, I like Olympic Hockey on the larger surface, but I prefer smaller rinks. It's a faster more physical game.

Huh? World Cup with NHL rules is much better than Olympics with IIHF rules.

If they won't prorate the price of Center Ice / GameCenter then they will hemorrhage that source of revenue. It won't be free, but I don't think they will be stupid enough to charge full price either.

They will make the realigment next summer, atleast moving Jets to Western Conference and one Wings/BJ's to East.

It makes no sense not to do it, it benefits both players and owners.

While that much is obvious, according to Crease's summary there (not sure what his source is on that) suggests that re-alignment won't happen until 14-15, if I'm reading that right...which is beyond ridiculous...

I love how the American media outlets are treating this about as news-worthy as what Andrew Luck is having for breakfast.

So, the agreement is for 10 years? I guess this means that in 10 years we'll have another lock-out... since we have one every single time a CBA expires.
