Most likely not true, Simon Desprès is just in a slump right now. Ray Shero probably thinks Ben Lovejoy, Robert Bortuzzo or Brian Strait deserves the spot more than Simon Desprès does (right now).

I think we should trade Matt Cooke (if we get a top-6 forward). His value has gone up due to his 19-goal performance last season. I think some teams would be willing to give up a top-4 defenseman if we traded Matt Cooke+.

It would have to be a big + tho, cooke is not worth a top 4 dman lol

honestly i'd rather keep him, he will be a UFA anyway, doubt he'd be worth much in a trade as a rental

That's what I mentioned, but perhaps we could Matt Cooke + one of our better prospects.

Well that's not good with all the young D we have coming up for Simon. 1st young D to get moved?

Apparently Despres will be at camp after all?

Question for #Pens fans: What’s a fair expectation for Simon Despres at this training camp? #TribHKY
Quote:
Kenji Hood ‏@darkdart19
@Dejan_Kovacevic I thought he wasn’t invited. So no expectation?
Quote:
Dejan Kovacevic ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic
@darkdart19 No. He will be there, as it turns out, as depth guy.
Quote:
Dejan Kovacevic ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic
.@MarkMaddenX Is he even invited? // Surprisingly, he’s here. Not sure why, based on what’s been heard all week.

Also, don't take this for anything yet, but:

It's my expectation some GMs are sitting on trades/signings that are done or close to done and as soon as gun goes off, there'll be activity

I wonder if Shero is one of those GM's with the logjam on waiver eligible D right now, and a hole or two that could stand to be filled on Crosby's and Geno's line.

I have no inside knowledge, but perhaps Despres was called to Pittsburgh because he will be part of a trade once the CBA is ratified.

The mystery and intrigue begins! Actually it could happen as early as today if NHLPA signs off on CBA "treaty"?

According to a Canucks fan on the Trade board, Malone is on the block, they got that info from The Fourth Period (never heard of them, don't know how reliable they are)

We should be hearing pretty soon about the NHLPA's vote. Thinking it will be something like 749-1 with Erik Cole being the lone dissenter. Toolbag. Nothing is ever good enough for some of these guys. They think "the perfect deal" exists out there. Newsflash doofus: it doesn't.

Yeah, but the guy has a daughter. How's he going to look her in the eye and tell her pops might not the get the full 18mil dollar value in his contract. It's not about the money, it's about the principle of the thing....and the principle is he might not get the full 18mil dollar value in his contract.

Fearsome, indeed.

I would like to see at least one player dealt, Lovejoy first in line, because I cannot see that we are going to carry 8 D-men on one-way deals on the big team, and I don't think any of the above mentioned players get through waivers. I mean, with Minnesota being short depth D-men, you know that Yeo - if not many others - would pounce on any one of Lovejoy, Bortuzzo and Strait.
Then let someone take Lovejoy for free. Even with Strait & Bort up, WBS will still have 8 guys (assuming Lovejoy doesn't clear).

Yah his daughter she may never be able to afford college on that salary! He could send her to 8 years of undergrad and grad school at Oxford and not blink. Meanwhile 80% of the college kids out there end up in debt the day they graduate to the tune of tens of thousands, as universities rack up obscene profits on massive tuition increases over the last 10 years, with no transparency or accountability as to where the money goes (certainly not academic scholarships and grants, we know that much!).

Poor Daughter Cole. What WILL she do.... besides have the choice of getting educated anywhere she wants, as many times as she wants, for free?

She's always missing out on a few million, poor girl. She might only be able to go to college 99 times instead of a 100.

Jayson Megna is one of the most aesthetically displeasing names I have ever encountered. Hope he makes the team.

Megna has had some upward movement this year for a guy who was an undrafted free-agent that has missed a good chunk of time due to injury. Anything you get out of free-talent finds like that is gravy.

I hate the Jason with a y thing though. I'm immediately a little predisposed to not liking him because of that.

Also obligatory University of Nebraska-Omaha Penguin Prospect Pipeline reference. All those guys from there that have been in or currently in the organization are all a grand ploy to sign Sustr.

Just realized something: in theory right now we could reunite a legendary line.

Trade for Malone
Sign Sykora

Kunitz - Crosby - Neal
Malone - Malkin - Sykora

(I'm kidding, but I think we should do one of the two. Trading for Malone would be genius IMO)

The Cueva de Menga, is a megalithic burial mound, called a tumulus, or a long barrow form of dolmen, dating from the 3rd millennium BCE. It is located near Antequera, Málaga, Spain.
