I know it's been discussed a million times, but I'm feeling B. Morrow could be a perfect top 6 fill-in for us. With Sid/Dupers, he could be that guy to park in front or battle it out. He's physical and has great leadership. I know he's not the player he was, but maybe playing with Sid would work.

I'm not sure. But I am okay with that being an idea we explore.

I would actually roll
Kunitz-Crosby-Morrow

I've been wanting morrow here for awhile. Just fits the pens system perfectly.

wouldn't be my plan A, but if he comes at a fair price I wouldn't be against it. Billy Guerin wouldn't have been my Plan A in 2009 either so what the hell do I know?

He definitely fits the system but his body is breaking down & starting to show signs of wear and tear. I think that he may have to tone it down a little if he'd want to play into his 40s.

so, based on the trade board we could roll:

Iginla-Crosby-Morrow
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal

for
Després + 1st and Blueger + Bortuzzo/Strait +3/4

that's some decent mortgaging but nothing that should prove fatal. those lines are skilled, gritty and experienced.

it'll take more than that. I'd still do it.

i think you're right on both accounts. but those are what fans of those teams agreed to take and fans usually demand more than what actually happens.

If that's what it costs to get those two and Shero turns it down without doing something else even better he should probably be fired

I'm looking for someone who can finish, have size and/or be able to create his own chances. Morrow is a guy who is very close to being done. Unless he could be had for next to nothing, Ill pass.

I would want Morrow to be the 2nd guy we bring in. I don't want him to be the highlight of our additions this year.

I just saw Rimer tweet that he expects a "flurry of activity."

I'd take Malone before Morrow. Even with the extra years on his contract. We need size on the wing.

I do not want to pay the price for Iginla. Period. Unless its something stupid like TK + 2nd.

Looking at the UFA list...not much but there might be a few serviceable guys there. Comrie project...

Langkow
Arnott
Sturm
Huselius
Blake
Sykora
Knuble

Not sure how many, if any, are Top 6 capable for us but...we have a gap and one of them might come on the cheap.

Why not? He's an elite winger with an RH shot, drive, and character out the yin-yang - the perfect addition for a long playoff run and maybe more. I'm not seeing the downside here.

Because I believe we will have to give up a lot in order to get him. You don't get franchise guys like Iggy for beans. Like I said, unless its for something like TK, Lovejoy, and not one of our primary D prosps...then I don't think its worth going after him.

No doubt he would be a tremendous addition but the price will be too steep.

We have enough defensive prospects. Giving one up in a trade along with other pieces is certainly worth it to get Iginla. I mean how many do we need? I'd rather get something for them than horde them since it's impossible that all of them will play for this team in the future. There are just too many.
