I really hope he changes his mind. We need a top 6 center badly and Grigs has proven himself in the Q this year. Hopefully the Sabres brass can persuade him.
it makes NO sense to keep Grigorenko in the Q. Use this shortened year to get him acclimated to the NHL so he's raring to go in 13/14. It's not like this team is a favorite as is anyways.

Get the growing pains out of the way now.
Well the counter argument would be that this is going to be a crazy year with a condensed schedule and the team might be a bit of a mess. Being a shortened season it's kind of a mulligan anyways- Better to keep him out of that and finish his development in juniors. Next year looks to be a big improvement with him and Armia coming in.
Are some posters really this obsessed with Scott playing?
I'm wondering the same myself. You dress simply dress Scott and let the fear of retribution sink into opponent's minds. You're not double-shifting him or giving him significant TOI. He's a deterrent to keep opponent's honest.
And if it really bothers you, there's always Tarnasky in Rochester who can actually skate a shift and handle fisticuffs too.
I'm most curious what happens at center. Girgensons is clearly not ready to fill it ay 3C if needed, and I've heard conflicting information about whether Grigorenko gets a look. Either way, they're young players. So do you fill in any holes with Porter or another vet? Not ideal...
I hope Regier has a trick up his sleeve or has whispered in dark corners with GMs about a possible trade these last few months. Hodgson and Ennis need a natural center to complement them or we're going to be scary thin up the middle (particularly in the event of an injury). Or *gulp* is Hecht as a free agent a possible backup plan?

If he plays he burns a year of his ELC
He may not be ready for condensed schedule
I'd rather he finishes development then gets rushed
It's a transition year. We have some very good prospects, but they're not going to be ready for a year or two. I never expected to make the playoffs this year.
