Also, how healthy are these guys: Myers (ankle; returned Fri Jan 4), Sulzer (groin; missed last 2GP), Ennis (shoulder; two stretches of missed action before returning to NA), Gerbe (back; rehabbing)... with a training camp that starts Wed, Thu or Fri.
Or Hodgson's gimpy hand, Tropp out for the entire season. Not digging the idea of a short camp too -- groin injuries galore.

Cant stop dreaming of a Foligno-Ennis-Ryan line. So I am going outside the box to get him.We toss in McCabe.
- def improved his stock to that of a first round prospect
- trade before the brewing love affair begins.
- we retain all our current D prospects
- value at all time high
So something like
Stafford/Pomm
McCabe

Like I said, outside the box, but I am a stock guy, so I am always thinking buy low sell high.
I would do Stafford but not Pominville.
Ryan is a good forward but he's inconsistent, yes he brings a physical edge and would give a much needed speed boost to our team but trading our best forward for him along with all those other assets is not smart IMO.
I'm most curious what happens at center. Girgensons is clearly not ready to fill it ay 3C if needed, and I've heard conflicting information about whether Grigorenko gets a look. Either way, they're young players. So do you fill in any holes with Porter or another vet? Not ideal...
I hope Regier has a trick up his sleeve or has whispered in dark corners with GMs about a possible trade these last few months. Hodgson and Ennis need a natural center to complement them or we're going to be scary thin up the middle (particularly in the event of an injury). Or *gulp* is Hecht as a free agent a possible backup plan?
Sign a cast-away for 3rd or 4th line checking duty. Dom Moore, come on down.

Woah dude. All of that to upgrade Stafford to Ryan?
yea, i'm sure he'll learn nothing about the NHL while playing for Patrick Roy....

dont be such a drama queen.
if people really stopped posting because they got called out on some nonsense comment they made... then there wouldn't be anyone posting
if it makes you feel better, i love Bobby Ryan too
He rolls them. Ideally, Moore would be a more physical third line center. At the end of the year, I recall DR and LR talking about having some sandpaper on every line. Ott provides that.
Arnott's not much of a shutdown option. Moore has the chops to play as a shadow. Arnott is basically a PP specialist/easy minute guy at this point and those minutes should be going to Hodgson/Ennis.

I know I'm back, when I see Chain dispelling the "Arnott 3rd line center" myth.

should those easy minutes still be going to Hodgson and Ennis though?
With the way things are setting up it will be awfully tough for anyone to crack the roster that wasn't already in their plans.
You're looking at just ONE week of training camp. I can't imagine there will be preseason games or if there are it will be maybe 1. You will have the majority of work likely focused on getting in game shape. I can't imagine there will be a ton of game like situations for players to make their mark in that week.
This I believe would be in Grigs favor, as he is already in game shape. Not "practiced with my teammates" shape, but game shape. I believe he would be able to take advantage, early in the season, of those players not yet in "game shape" on other teams. I would expect success rather quickly under these circumstances. Atleast initially, like 4 goals, 2 assists in 9 games (assuming 10 day contract). Think Luke Adam type start. Enough that he stays on for the remainder of the season. Same thing I believe can be applied to Armia. I believe they could "out condition" their way to early success, before all the dust settles. mo
Hodgson's been back for ten games, I'd say he's fine.Is Moore's personal life -- wife was diagnosed with liver cancer last summer -- no longer a distraction? And just say no to Arnott.
I haven't seen how Moore's wife was doing -- organ cancer is a rough go.
And CoHo's looked ok (loved the games against the Monsters), still a little concern in my mind that it could be easily re-injured.

Yeah, I think they should still get some of those easier minutes at this point. They're kids, relatively speaking, and both have offensive chops to take advantage of o-zone starts against lesser lines/d-combos. Get a vet who can handle a checking/shutdown assignment rather than someone like Arnott shown he is not that guy in the last few seasons.

You are getting WAY ahead of yourself.
For starters Armia will not be in the NHL this season. Its unlikely he even comes to camp.
Second, as I posted earlier, Bob McKenzie said the 9 game tryout may not be available due to the time of year and its impact on junior clubs. If thats the case Grigs will have a week of practicing to show what he's got.

Armia was def a stretch, admittedly. And werd on that last part.
