I would imagine that the 3rd line will be

Hudler - Stajan - Cervenka (once healthy)

I would imagine that line will get as much ice time as

Sven - Backlund - Cammy

Also I think Cammy is going to be on the 2nd pp so Hudler will play on the first pp with Iggy, Tangs, Glencross.

I think we'll see a balanced out 3 lines that can score, and an energy line

Really think Backlund with flourish under Hartley's system.

If you guys haven't watched the Flames scrimmage highlights check them out... Backlund looks really good! I think he scored 3 goals. Hopefully this will be a break out year for the kid!

GlenX - Tangs - Iggy
Baer - Backs - Cammy
CervX - stagan - Hudler
Coma - Jones - Jackman

Horak, Winchester

Stemps to PHX for a 2nd / 3rd.

Feaster will sign Winchester. If everything everyone says about him being a hard worker and energy guy, Hartley will want him.

There simply is no room for Stemps and I believe Feaster will find a home for him.

Depth wise we still have a few players who can come in and fill a roll. If any of our top six wingers get hurt, coma Hudler or Cervanka can move in and Horak replaces their respective lines.

D wise it's sounds like Breen is starting to get some looks. We have more than enough depth to make it through injuries. With smith, Sarich McCarthy for fill ins.

Folks, we aren't a team with epic superstar line-up. But we have a mix of skill and hard to play against. We could REALLY be deadly on the PP. full year of Cammy and Baer, with addition of Hudler and Wideman.

Don't forget Kipper. A guy who can carry a mediocre team to the playoffs.

So called experts have already counted them out. I'm sure they enjoy the underdog status. I'm excited to have a bunch of players with something to prove, as well as a new coaching staff who also have a big statement to make.

Brodie - 25% (He was on the fourth (extra) D pairing yesterday)

Kolanos - High top 9 full needs to be a step above the younger guys to justify
Sven - Not so high if Hartley likes his line and we are down 2 scoring wingers to start the year no chance he goes back
Horak - High we brought in a bunch of 4th line guys and the top 9 is pretty full
Brodie - "Low-ish" Quite a few D-men in camp and Wideman took a roster spot from last years group but I think he's an NHL Dman at this point and he could challenge to be the #4 and have a PP spot
In my totally uninformed opinion

I watched the highlights from Scrim and Baertschi-Backlund-Horak were impressive. Nice to finally have some slick hands on this team.

That and a coach that isn't afraid of letting them show it.

When Horak plays with Sven he is 100x better than on his own his game fits so well with Sven's its cool to see them play so well together.

Also Backlund has 4 goals in the two scrimmages (all on Kipper I think) it looks like he may have found is confidence in Europe.

top 2 lines seem pretty set with the way camp has gone. Of course that can change when Hudler and Cervenka come, but here's my hopeful lineup!

Glencross Tanguay Iggy
Sven Backlund Cammy
Hudler Stajan Cervenka
Comeau Jones Stempniak
Jackman

Glencross had chemistry with Iggy last year. Tanguay in the middle passing to 2 trigger-happy shooters sounds ideal. Sven and Backs had chemistry already last year at camp. Putting an energetic and fast Cammy will surely help the 2 kids. This line will surprise people. The 2b line is perfect for Stajan. Stick him 2 offensively capable players and he will produce A LOT better than he has the last 2 years. Helps that he's defensively sound as well. The energy line is not a typical 4th line. All 3 players can play and will be counted on for momentum with their energy. Jackman will slot in with tougher opponents. Though I think one of Comeau and Stemps will be traded, it all depends on how Hartley uses his lines

Gio Bouw
Butler Wideman
Brodie Sarich
extra: Smith/Babchuk

on D Hartley seems to like Gio and JBo together, which makes sense since they are the 2 best on the team. Wideman with another mobile player in Butler makes our top 4 very active, which is exactly the way Hartley likes to play. Hopefully Butler improved since he looked overwhelmed at times playing top 4 last year. Brodie and Sarich was a good pairing last year. A one-year-older Brodie will even be better in Hartley's system.

I really hope Brodie plays and is not the 7th/8th man.

I would rather have Stempniak as the 13th forward as Jackman brings something no one else does on this team.

that's why I said I think one of Comeau/Stemps will be traded. 2.5M sitting in the pressbox, nope.

Agreed. Stemps doesn't belong on the 4th line. I hope we can pick up a pick for him.

The difference is Comeau is physical and and can pk he doesn't stand out as a bad fit on the 4th line Stemps has to be a top 9 or traded.

We would regret that move as soon as the injuries come. Better to have depth and competition for the top-9. If we are healthy and someone isn't performing, they can wait their turn in the press box.

That's a good point but he shouldn't be played on the 4th line if we are playing it for grit or else we are left with the same problem as having Stajan on the 4th line.

Yeah, I think we will have a capable top-9 guy siting in the press box to start. Not the worst problem to have though. Gonna have to see how the first few games though.

I don't thin Horak is done seeing AHL action this year, I think he'll be up and down a few more times.
