I see not many people giving Barker a chance. I wouldn't mind having him as a 7 th or 8 th defender.

Why would they buy him out when they could get a late first rounder for him

He needs a change of teams, I am thinking back to Phoenix or NYI

Not if you fantasy league rewards putting your team on the PK.

Not sure if serious... Honestly don't know.

If we are talking hockey sense, Tanev's brain is the size of a watermelon while Barkers is that of a pea.

Get Barker away from this camp and team ASAP. Don't want him infecting any of our guys with his "I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing-itis". Connauton has enough trouble as it is.

Fair enough but you think Alberts would be in the NHL if he wasnt on the Canucks? doubtful.

Really? He is the 7th D on one of the top teams in the NHL. He'd be a top 6 on a bottom feeder.

Why?

What exactly does he bring to the table?

He's probably the worst defensive defender to see regular NHL duty over the past few seasons - utter travesty, no idea what he's doing. He also contributes nothing offensively, aside from the one year where he was put on a PP with Kane-Toews-Sharp-Campbell and scored 30 PP points.

Guess what? If Andrew Alberts was put on the #1 PP unit for an entire season, he'd score 40 points, too.

Barker is a rubbish player. Total crap.

I do not get the wanton disparaging of Alberts. He's bottom pairing sure but we are talking about a physical, stay at home guy that does everything asked of him and that makes 1.25 mil.

Doubt he makes the team unless he REALLY impresses, and I highly doubt he would take Tanev's spot.

He is a good bottom pairing player WHEN he is on his game.

Barker being invited would once again make me question our ''genius'' GM.

you guys still think barker would be a bad signing for like a two way contract? he think he'd make a very good nolan baumgartner replacement.

For 1 or 2 years perhaps. Depends how training camp goes, but i'm not too giddy about it.

Agree on this sentiment.

By all regards, if Gillis was really an advanced stats guy, then he wouldn't even bother looking at Cam Barker, much less Derek Joslin. And Joslin got a contract.

This is all very odd. It's almost as if Gillis is purposefully getting the worst players to mine some data out of them.

yeah, at this point he basically is going to be nolan baumgartner or he's going to find a new line of work right?

So we have Barker and Arnott for camp invites so far. Can't wait to see Jensen tryout next year along with Eddie Lack.
