I may not love Hannan, but he's definitely better than Redden. Redden is a fringe #6 blueliner at this point. Hannan can play second pairing, but is a solid third pairing guy.

I guess we will see soon enough where will he end up and how he will pan out.
I also think Hannan will be bumped out by Blum pretty soon, and I like that option better.
I haven't seen Redden play in forever, so it's hard to say. I know his stats look bad in the AHL, but I don't think that tells the whole story. Very curious to see how that all plays out. My best guess, there probably isn't a huge difference between Hannan and Redden, with Hannan being the much safer pick.
I'm still a little nervous going into the season with Hannan as our #4. Maybe Gill-Ellis will end up getting more icetime than we're all anticipating.

Hannan was definitely the #4 D-man on Calgary last year. Averaged over 20 minutes a game, behind Bouwmeester, Giordano and Butler. The next most ice time on the team was Brodie at 16 minutes. Definitely a defensive D, though - virtually no PP time and averaged 2:50 PK (2nd on the team).
Wade Redden has not played an NHL game since 2010.
There are so many question marks about this this season. We realistically need at least half of Blum, Ellis, Josi, Wilson, Smith, Hals, and Spals to have career years if we are going to make the playoffs. I don't mean like Grets good, but north of their point totals last year and more maturity/effort in their play.
Really hard to say where we will be when the dust settles in the west... course... I think most teams feel that way too.

Well he was just a rookie last year so I don't see him being a nobody. He is ahead of both Weber and Suter at the same point in their developments. Dude's a stud.

1. Yes
2. Incredible skater, incredible passer. Speedy, good hands, thinks the game at a high level. Solid defensively.
3. Stylistically, he's pretty close to Suter. Two way defenseman. I think his offensive game is a little better than Suter's, but Suter's defensive game is better than Josi's.
4.Because he plays for the Predators. If he played for the Canadiens or the Oilers, you would never stop hearing about him.
I haven't seen anyone put these line combos together but during the playoffs Spaling centered Hornqvist and Bourque. They were effective and pests out there on the ice. I'd love to see them as our third line. I think Hornqvist's attitude fits in with Bourque's tenaciousness. So here's what I'd like to see.

Smith-Legwand-Wilson
Bourque-Spaling-Hornqvist
Halischuk-Gaustad-BigErn, Yip, Klune, Mueller or whoever else we picture getting 7-8 minutes a night.
That top 9 isn't flashy and doesn't make you go wow but it's balanced and brings a few different looks while all being good two way groups.
Hey guys. Leafs fan here. Right now in my Fantasy pool I've got Craig Smith, but a little unsure if I want to keep him. How has he been in camp? What are your expectations/projections for him this year? Colin Wilson is available too and I've heard a lot more about him, but I know they may be linemates. Any opinions?

Craig will be starting on the 2nd line with Legwand and Hornqvist. He will be getting a lot more ice time than last year and most likely more than Wilson. Depending on how deep your pool is he could be a steal.
I watched him a lot at practice yesterday. He has amazing hands. Kid has skill through the roof. Should be a big year for Craig.
Wilson has a little less value, is a bit banged up, and will likely be on the 3rd line to start the season. I'd say stick with Craig.

Oilers fan here checking out your depth chart. Always wished our team played as hard for our coaches as your guys do.
