Will the Wings or the Jackets be left in the West when the Yotes move to Quebec?

It seems fairly certain to me that the Yotes will move to Quebec. It also seems to be the consensus on the Phoenix thread. So if that indeed happens, who will have to stay in the West out of the two teams that are scheduled to move east?

I think the Wings stay. Sure, it's a powerful team, but the Jackets need every advantage they can get and the teams in the West won't want to lose the Wings. Also, Columbus is ever so slightly to the east of Detroit. It also makes sense since Quebec will be in the division that the Wings are scheduled to be in.

They're not going to Quebec. That's one of the things that's been made clear by this setup. Detriot is never going back across and it's doubtful the Blue Jackets will either.

Just because some fans want something to happen does not make it inevitable. The NHL is trying to keep the Yotes in Phoenix

Just because some do not think it will happen does not make it inevitable. The Yotes' faith will be settled in a few months. If it is decided they move for the 2013-14 season, it will be to Quebec City. In a year or two? Could* be to Seattle...

* If eveything is in place there (owner, arena).

It's obvious the league would like to keep the team in Phoenix, otherwise they would have been gone long ago. I also get the impression the league prefers Seattle to Quebec. But since it looks like a decision will have to be made by the end of the season, Quebec City makes the most sense because everything is in place there.

That being said, there is no way to know how the saga will play out, because if the league did what made sense, this situation would have been resolved long ago. If I had to bet money though, it would be on Quebec City.

Seattle seems to have jumped to the top of the relocation list as of now, but that's not saying they'll get Phoenix or anyone else that way. Have to think there's an expansion coming soon once Phoenix is sorted out. We'll see where those franchises are awarded before we can say one way or the other. If QC or somewhere else in the east is one there's no way to avoid moving Detroit back to the west.

One plan I heard on the radio yesterday would be to push Colorado to the Pacific (or have 6-8-8-8 divisions) and have Quebec be the 7th or 8th team in the midwest (playing with ''circuit maudit'' old school rival and fellow Canadian team Winnipeg) until the sheduled realigment talks in a few seasons.

It'd make more sense then playing in the Pacific (and it'd actually be feasable) and we'd play more then before against eastern teams.

This realigment doesn't mean at all Seattle will get the team, they have no arena ready for a team now!

There are plenty of threads where alignment and Phoenix/Quebec issues can be discussed. No need for one which presupposes a relocation.
