rate the move:

Non NYR Draft Picks
Wade Redden (still counts against cap - so far) - 1st round - 2nd overall, 1995 Draft, drafted by New York Islanders, signed as a UFA in 2008
HORRIFIC

Martin Biron - 1st round - 16th overall, 1995 Draft, drafted by Buffalo Sabres, signed as UFA in 2010
GOOD MOVE

Arron Asham - 3rd round - 71st overall, 1996 Draft, drafted by Montreal Canadiens, signed as UFA in 2012
TBD

Mike Rupp - 1st round - 9th overall, 1998 Draft, drafted by New York Islanders, signed as UFA in 2011
LAST YR NOT GOOD BUT TIME WILL TELL

Brad Richards - 3rd round - 64th overall, 1998 Draft, drafted by Tampa Bay Lightening, signed as UFA in 2011
SO FAR SO GOOD

Taylor Pyatt - 1st round - 8th overall, 1999 Draft, drafted by New York Islanders, signed as UFA in 2012
TBD

Jeff Halpern - Undrafted - debuted 1999 with Washington Capitals, signed as UFA in 2012
TBD
Marian Gaborik - 1st round - 3rd overall, 2000 Draft, drafted by Minnesota Wild, signed as UFA in 2009
OVERALL GREAT TO HAVE A SNIPER LIKE GABBY

Rick Nash - 1st round - 1st overall, 2002 Draft, drafted by Minnesota Wild, acquired in trade 2012 from Columbus together with Steve Delisle + conditional pick for
Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, Tim Erixon + 1st round pick (2013)
TBD BUT LOVE IT

Steve Eminger - 1st round - 12th overall, 2002 Draft, drafted by Washington Capitals, acquired in trade 2010 with Anaheim Ducks for Aaron Voros and Ryan Hillier.
FOR VOROS HILLIER IT WAS A GOOD MOVE

Brian Boyle - 1st round - 26th overall, 2003 Draft, drafted by Los Angeles Kings, acquired in trade 2009 with Los Angeles Kings for a 3rd round pick in 2009.
GOOD MOVE SO FAR EVEN THOUGH HE GETS CRAPPED ON BY FANS ON HFB

Anton Stralman - 7th round - 216th overall, 2005 Draft, drafted by Toronto Maple Leafs, signed as UFA in 2011
GOOD MOVE SO FAR

Ryan McDonagh - 1st round - 12th overall, 2007 Draft, drafted by Montreal Canadiens, acquired in trade from Montreal Canadiens in 2009 together with Christopher Higgins, Pavel Valentenko, and Doug Janik for Scott Gomez, Tom Pyatt, and Michael Busto.
FAN DIDDILY TASTIC TRADE

Stu Bickel - Undrafted - debuted 2008 with Anaheim Ducks, was traded by the Ducks in exchange for Nigel Williams in 2010
GOOD MOVE FOR A MINOR LEAGUER

Draft picks won't bother rating, they made the NHL so of course its good. All in all the Redden is obviously horrific and people can complain about Rupp getting too much money but the other moves are SOLID by Sather

At first I had to think if the Wild drafted him and traded him to the BJs.
