Is Kampfer still concussed?

I'd be comfortable with him playing out the rest of the season with the Wild.

He's been back with the Aeros for two games.

I thought he looked great before his injury; better than Scandella at times.

Paul Mara...meh. Don't see him making the Wild. He's too old and even though we are thin..

Prosser, Falk,Kampfer, Dumba, all better options

I'd rather see Connelly or Genoway before I see Paul Mara on this team. Dudes a pylon at this point in his career.

Sounds like Brodin is within two weeks of returning himself now...do we really need to make a trade?

Really? I thought it would be longer than that

#MNWild had invited 2012 first-round pick Matt Dumba to training camp. Likely here by Friday from WHL Red Deer
Russo

Discuss. I personally don't think he makes the team, I know he's struggled at times at Red Deer this year.

Wouldn't the Wild still need to trade away a contracted player for Dumba to be on the roster? His contract is currently not counting against the 50 as a player in junior with less than 11 games played.

Or they use him as a filler for 5-8 games while hoping the other d-men quickly heal. They come back, and he gets sent back to juniors before that 10 game mark. This way the club doesn't have to panic and make a very early trade to get some bodies on the blueline.

Or would the number of contracts be a problem?

maybe they don't like Dumba's regression and want more direct control over his development.

Give the kid some time with Sydor then send him back to Red Deer.

Has Dumba been that bad at Red Deer? Admittingly haven't seen him played. I know he's put up some points.

Well that much is obvious. I can't see him ready for a couple of years. Don't want to rush him. But if they need a guy to fill in a spot for a handful of games, I could see them testing the kid out. It'd allow them to measure his progress and have some instructional meetings with him. Plus, playing in a couple of games could provide a huge spark of motivation that may help push him a bit when he goes back to juniors.

Nobody can really say for sure. His point pace is down which is alarming and his WJC camp performance was very underwhelming.

No problem in seeing how he does with some NHL defensemen and coaching. If he shows up and gels with one of the guys and can play 8-10 minutes, great. If not, he can take the experience and the coaching back with him to juniors - hopefully with a positive attitude to finish the rest of this year well.

Jarick asked about Dumba in the Prospects forum. I think this response shed some light on Dumba's numbers.

The other thing contributing to his regression is that his "big open ice hits" were actually often penalties in the new WHL (I don't agree with the new standard, it hurts Miller on the WK's a lot as well), he got away with a lot until this season, I think that early suspension took away a lot of his desire to get out and hit someone, and once you take the hitting away from a guy like Dumba, you take away a big piece of his game. I think he'll play his 19 year old season back in the WHL, and be a lot more composed, stronger player who puts up more points again and plays a lot better.
I'd rather see Dumba get more playing time at a lower level.

The kid has a lot of growing and learning to do. He simply needs some time. Speaking of time, Leddy's had a lot more of it. Yet, I'm finding more and more Hawks' fans who are getting frustrated with his performances in the minors.

That what i was thinking. Maybe they just want some direct NHL coaching for a week?

I'm thinking that with such a short camp, they want to make it as competitive as possible, especially for guys like Falk and Prosser. Bringing in a young guy makes them protect their spot in the lineup, even if the young guy probably doesn't have a chance to make the team.

Will it be like the Bulmer tryout where if he doesn't play more than 9 pro games it doesn't take a year off his contract?

Definitly like the idea of Dumba coming to camp. I think some coaching from Yeo and the rest of the staff can really do some good for him
